  12. WHAT IS SHARWARE?

  15. Shareware essentially means that distribution is free of charge and can
  16. be done via any method that leaves all the files intact.  The individual
  17. use of the fonts however isn't entirely free, although it's usually very
  18. inexpensive.

  20. Although is a general rule, you *MUST* read the author's own variation to
  21. the norm.  These can usually be found in the "!Help" file within the
  22. application.

  24. The author nearly always relies upon your honesty to send him/her the money
  25. via the post.  This system obviously has large holes in it's working due
  26. to the unfortunate properties of human nature, but it has some obvious
  27. advantages:

  29. -> The lack of overheads means the software is less expensive for you as
  30.    opposed to the alternative, which is of course commercial software.

  32. -> If you send in your money then obviously future products from this
  33.    author are likely to be shareware and hopefully as inexpensive, if not
  34.    more so.

  36. -> Many authors like myself find that we spend an awful lot of time writing
  37.    software as well as we can, but there is usually no monetry incentive.
  38.    Shareware means that those authors can get something for their time,
  39.    encouraging them to continue writing for your operating system (in this
  40.    case Risc OS).  After all we all need new equipment sometime in order
  41.    to keep writing software.

  47. Font Manager release two *IS* shareware, you are allowed to store it on a
  48. storeage media for up to 7 days using it to decide if you wish to make
  49. permanent use of it on your system.  If you do decide that you want it,
  50. please post to me the equivalent of UK£2 in one of the following
  51. currencies.

  67. By sending twice the required amount plus a 3.5" floppy disc in either
  68. 800k or 1.6M format you will get back the latest version.

  70. This is *NOT* optional.  If you want the software; please send the money.
  71. This is very very very inexpensive.  £2.00 is very little to ask for the
  72. amount of time put into this package.  The most inexpensive comercial
  73. font manager is UK£10 and the better ones are around UK£25.  This is the
  74. best deal you are likely to find.  If you resent having to pay for postage
  75. then send it surface mail!

  78. your own software systems (not alone), or even perahaps a shareware package
  79. then I am very happy to do this at very much reduced prices if you are
