Copyright
---------
This application is SHAREWARE. This means that it may be copied freely, as
long as -
• No charge above media and distribution costs is made, and no personal
profit is made,
• It is not altered in any way, and the whole application is copied,
• If you use the software for more than two weeks, you must register for it.
See the section 'Registering' below.
The copyright remains mine (Chris Whitworth) at all times.
PD Libraries - if you wish to distribute this software, I will be happy to
let you, provided you make no profit from it. However, I would be grateful if
you would contact me first (at the address at the end of this file). This is
so I know who is distributing my software.
Bulletin boards - if you charge your calls at premium rate (eg. 0898/0891
numbers) YOU MAY NOT DISTRIBUTE THIS SOFTWARE IN ANY FORM. If you charge your
calls normally, and someone uploads this software, please contact me before
incorporating it into your catalogue, so I know which version you have.
(Please note, at present I do not have a modem, so please either phone me or
write to me)
FTP sites - This application may be freely distributed on ftp sites.
Programmers - if you wish to use this software in any other program, then
contact me first, including _full_ details of what you want to do with it. If
it inspires you to write any other program, but you do not actually use any
of my code, a credit would be nice!
Registering
-----------
This application is SHAREWARE. This means that you are entitled to try it
out free of charge for a period of two weeks. If, after this period, you
decide you wish to continue using the software, you _must_ register it.
Registration costs £5 (as a cheque payable to 'Chris Whitworth' - sorry, UK
sterling only) and entitles you to free upgrades on receipt of a disc with
your existing (registered) version on it. Registered versions do not have
the annoying error box which pops up every now and again, either.
I will send out details of the latest version to anyone who has registered.
If you decide not to register, you must destroy all copies of the software.
I make no effort to ensure that the latest version is in PD libraries - if
you want the latest version, then register.
Magazines
---------
Something I don't understand is how magazines are getting away with
distributing shareware on their coverdiscs. The whole idea is that you get to
try before you buy, right? If you don't like it, you are legally (and
morally) obliged to destroy all copies of the software. But if you still have
it lurking on a cover-disc somewhere, how are you meant to do this? This, to
me, seems to make the time limit on the software somewhat redundant.
Therefore, this software may not be distributed in any form on a magazine
cover disc (unless I have given my specific permission to allow this to be
done)
