- D E E P C O P Y I I
-
- from Mike Gasbers, Cologne, Germany
-
- This is another public domain tool for Risc OS.
- It clones ADFS-discs (and only those) of each
- format - the result is a real backup, not only a
- copy of your files. That means, the tracks will be
- copied byte by byte. In some cases this will also
- duplicate discs with copy-protection. I'm sorry to
- some software-writers, but I can't avoid this now.
- There are following options available (you have to
- click the menu-button to pop up the menu-window):
-
- Checkdisc : verify the selected tracks,
-
- TrackCopy : copy the selected tracks.
-
- SectorCopy : do the same as above - just deeper.
-
- Get image : create an image of your disc as file
- specified in <DeepCopy$Dir>.imagefile.
- Please note, that only selected tracks
- are being copied.
-
- Put image : put back the image created with the
- last option. Be careful, because on
- the disc the image will start at the
- selected first track, not on the first
- one used when getting the image (some
- guys told me that makes sense, please
- don't ask me why).
-
- Now, let's have a look at the other parameters and
- the use of some icons ...
-
- Clicking on the drive symbols will enable or disable
- them (if there is only one source drive this will
- always be active). While you can select any number
- of, of course configured, destination drives, you
- can only select one source drive at a time.
- Clicking on the arrows under "First track" and
- "Last track" with the left button will increase or
- decrease those tracks by one, using the right
- button by ten.
-
- The START-button will start the specified action.
- After clicking that one the button will change to
- an STOP-button with whom you can abort the current
- action. This button is also used when changing of
- discs is needed - it will prompt you to CONTINUE
- when ready.
- There is a status line on the bottom which always
- tells you what is done or what has to be done.
-
- Multiple copy means you can copy the selected tracks
- several times without reading the source each time
- before you want to copy the same tracks again.
- Please note, that this can only be done with as many
- tracks as will fit into free memory.
-
- If "Verify tracks" is selected, after each write the
- written track will be verified.
-
- To copy discs with read-errors or ignore any other
- errors while reading or writing you can select this
- option.
-
- Last not least you can pop up a small window which
- shows you the meaning of all symbols and leds which
- could appear while using DeepCopy II. To do this
- just click on the "!" beside the logo.
-
- To save the current settings as your defaults you
- can use the Save-option in the icon-bar-menu.
-
-
- I hope this tool may help you sometimes or just
- make your life a little bit easier,
- Mike.
