- Coster by John 'Juggler' Wright version 0.04
- Help file for Coster
- --------------------
- >> What does Coster do?
- It displays the time you've been connected via modem and calculates the
- price that it's cost you.
-
- >> How do I select the price method?
- Click MENU on the top left icon in the main window. A big menu will show
- you the available methods. Coster comes pre-programmed with Cable, Mercury
- and BT change rates for National (b), Adjoining (a) and Local (l) calls.
-
- • BT National-b is national calls over 56.4 km (~35 miles) between charge
- points, calls to the Channel Islands and Isle of man.
-
- • BT National-b1 is similar but calls connected over low cost routes
-
- >> When I run !Coster it doesn't come up on the iconbar!
- Coster does not have an icon on the iconbar because it's just a small
- program. This does mean that if you close the window, Coster will quit so
- you'll have to run it again.
-
- >> Where's the log file?
- This is inside the !Coster directory. Hold SHIFT and double-click on the
- !Coster program in the filer window. There should be a Text file called Log,
- that's the logfile. Double-click on Log to view it (using whatever text
- program around).
-
- >> When I get connected the price isn't zero
- This is because whereever you connect to there is a minimum charge. Coster
- is designed to show the minimum charge until the call costs more. This
- minimum charge is specified in the CallRates file.
-
- >> Since last upload
- The debugging commands which meant when the mouse was at the far left of
- the screen Coster thought it was connected, have been removed. Minimum
- charge and log file added.
- I've also updated the CallRates for the new BT prices which are charged
- per minute instead of per unit.
-
- >> The Choices file
- This tells !Coster which Serial Block Drivers to use.
-
- 1st line: <block driver name>
- 2nd line: <port number to use>
-
- You can use the !DrvChoice program supplied to alter this by loading
- !DrvChoice and dragging !Coster to the window, changing the settings and
- clicking on Save.
-
- >> The CallRates file [format]
- This is made up of areas and tokens.
-
- file ::- <area>
- area ::- <area name><nl> '{' <nl><area data> '}' <nl>
- area name ::- <string>
- area data ::- <token> '=' <string><nl> { <area data> }*
- token ::- <string> ; No '=' signs though
- string ::- <char> | <char><string>
- char ::- any character >31 <>127
-
- >> Interactive help is supported (!Help application)
- Using !Help would be advised if you don't know which call rate to use.
- Once !Help is loaded and its window is open, click MENU on Coster's top left
- icon and move through the list of call rates until the most suitable one for
- you is found. Then click SELECT and Coster will load in that call rate's
- details.
