What is Bootplus

Bootplus a program which performs a number of functions
* The editing of the !Boot sequence, which includes
- Auto run tasks and files
- Auto booted tasks
- Extended resource applications
- Pre-desk set-ups.
* Password protection for the main hardrive, with the following features :-
- User by user specified access to each top level directory
- day/time access by user
- Various methods of entering passwords
* Creates aliases for any application.
This Latest Version (V3.1)
==========================
This latest version incorporates changes at the request of some users. Although
one major request has not been implemented.
The main request (not implemented!) was to split the code into two so that users
who did not require passord protections could use !Bootplus without the need for
logging on. On the opposite side of the fence there have been requests to
improve the password protection mechanism.
This application was always intended to be an extended !Boot utility and not a
suite of programs. Also, if one considers the security of !Boot then it becomes
obvious that if passwords are enabled then !Boot editing MUST be limited.
Therefore, !Boot editing and password protection must co-exist. However, there
is no reason why we can't disable passwords entirely and be left with a simple
!Boot editor.
This version basically expands the security wrt passwords and enables these
passwords to be switched off entirely so that a simple !Boot editor remains.
Two separate programs in one!
Bootplus can now be set to pop up instead of the !Configuration application when
!Boot is "run" (!configuration as available from within Bootplus)
Installation and Upgrade
========================
To install V3.1 follow the instructions in !Bootplus.!help (press <menu> over
the !Bootplus icon and select the option Help)
To upgrade to V3.1 ensure that the desktop filer force option is set on and
then drag and drop the new version over the existing old version.
When the new version of !Bootplus starts it will remove the background tasks
of the old version and be in a "non password" mode. Simply use the new bootplus
options to re-install passwords. You will be prompted for an OWNER password,
however, all other existing users passwords will remain unchanged.
