- The font manager organisation is different in RISC OS 3 from the
- organisation used with in RISC OS 2. Some RISC OS 3 fonts are provided in
- the ROM, and the font manager itself is supplied in the RISC OS 3 ROM. In
- addition the font manager works slightly differently.
-
- This !Fonts directory is provided to allow !Fonts to continue to work when
- used by either RISC OS 2 or RISC OS 3 machines.
-
- If you have a network with just RISC OS 2 or RISC OS 3 machines, you should
- follow the instructions in the Archimedes user guide for upgrading the !Fonts
- with the fonts supplied on this disc.
-
- If you are using both RISC OS 2 and RISC OS 3 machines on your network,
- follow these instructions:
-
- 1) Temporarily rename the network !Fonts, or move it to another directory.
-
- 2) Copy this !Fonts to the network; to the place where the old !Fonts was
- before you renamed it. Suppose this is net:&.!Fonts.
-
- 3) Move the fonts in the renamed RISC OS 2 !Fonts which are to be seen by
- RISC OS 2 clients only (ie those fonts hich are found in ROM in the RISC OS 3
- client) to net:&.!Fonts.FontsRO2.
-
- 4) Move the remaining fonts in the renamed RISC OS 2 !Fonts (which will be
- seen by both RISC OS 2 and RISC OS 3 clients) to net:&.!Fonts.FontsRO3.
-
- 5) Delete the renamed RISC OS 2 !Fonts directory and the remaining contents.
-
- 6) If available, copy the RISC OS 3 fonts in !Fonts from the distribution
- disc (disc App1) to net:&.!Fonts.FontsRO3.
-
- The system should now work. If you have extra fonts you will need to copy
- these into the new RISC OS 3 directory (net:&.!Fonts.FontsRO3 in the above
- example) - consult the release notice and user guide.
-
- You may also want to change this file (net:&.!Fonts.!Help in the above
- example) to explain to users what is happening - or you could just overwrite
- it with the RISC OS 3 !Fonts.!Help file.
