  5. AppInfo is a utility to display useful information about applications, such
  6. as name, lenght, last update, full name, version, author and own comments
  7. about the application.
  8.  
  9. * How to use AppInfo
  10.  
  11.   Double click on !AppInfo to start the application. Its icon will appear on
  12.   the Icon Bar.
  13.  
  14.   Drag an application to the AppInfo icon. A window will appear with various
  15.   entries.
  16.  
  17.   The application information is contained in a file called '!Info'
  18.   inside the application. A warning box will appear if the application does
  19.   not contain the '!Info' file, or if some data (name, lenght or last
  20.   update) are changed since last time the '!Info' file was saved.

  22.   To keep the warning box from popping up every time you view application
  23.   data you have to save the information.
  24.  
  25. * The info fields are
  26.  
  27. + Name          Application name
  28. + Length        Lenght of whole application in KiloBytes (K)
  29. + Last Update   Last update of the application's '!RunImage'-file
  30.   Name          Full application name
  31.   Version       Version number
  32.   Author        Author (or Software company) of application
  33.   Comments      Your own comments to the application (i.e. it doesn't work
  34.                 with this or that, etc.)

  36.   The fields marked + are automaticly updated by AppInfo. The other fields
  37.   you have to edit yourself.

  39. * The following shortcut can be used while editing:
  40.  
  41.   F3            Save !AppDir data to application directory
  42.  
  43.   The save window can also be accessed via the menu brought up by clicking
  44.   on the middle mouse button.
  45.  
  46. * To save application info (the '!Info'-file) just click OK in the save
  47.   window, or click on "Save" from the menu.
  48.  
  49.   NB: You don't have to drag the file-icon into the application!       
  50.   (Though if you want to save the current info elsewhere you may drag the
  51.   icon.)

  53. * By accessing the log option from the bar menu, you may open a log file.
  54.   All following application data will then be appended to this log file,
  55.   making it easier to create an application library.
  56.   If you open a log file twice, the previous log data will be lost.
  57.  
  58. * Certain database programs should have the ability to import files by
  59.   defining a field and record terminator. By importing the !Info data
  60.   file into such a program, it should be quite easy to build yourself an
  61.   application library listing.
  62.   In !Info the fields are terminated by [0a], the records by [0a][0d][0a].
