- Judging from the mail that I and others have been getting, there is some
- confusion about what FreeNet is and how it can be used, so this is an
- attempt to clarify things somewhat.
-
- FreeNet is a transport agent, nothing more. In order to do anything
- useful with you need client programs. At the moment these include the
- FreeTerm terminal emulator and ArcWeb using the ArcWebTCP fetcher.
-
- One thing you can't do is to use both KA9Q and FreeNet at the same
- time. Even using the KA9QAUNLink driver (or a blockdriver pipe) to
- link the two together won't work, as you would need two IP addresses,
- one for KA9Q and one for FreeNet.
-
- Finally, several people have been unsure how to actually connect
- FreeNet to the net. The answer is that once you have set up the
- configuration files in !FreeUser, you should alter your SLIPdial
- script to run !FreeUser.Startup when it has connected, instead of
- running !TCPIP.
