  5. === 1. Introduction ======================================================

  7. This program is a (hopefully) useful utility to convert between various
  8. things. It derives from the previously released !AngleConv (1.03) and
  9. !BaseConv (1.03).

  12. === 2. Using the program =================================================
  13.  
  14. When the program has loaded, select 'Angle', 'Base' or 'SWI' from the
  15. icon-bar menu...
  16.  
  17. 2.1 Angle conversion
  18.  
  19.     Type the number you wish to convert into the relevant box and press
  20.     Return. Unfortunately some inaccuracies can arise, especially when
  21.     converting to and from radians (due to finite accuracy (shame...))
  22.  
  23. 2.2 Base conversion
  24.  
  25.     Simply type the number you wish to convert into the relevent box, and
  26.     press Return. You can convert to and from any base you want, using the
  27.     box on the last line. Just type a new base (from 2 to 36) into the
  28.     'Base' box and press Return. (The digits of the higher bases are taken
  29.     from 0-9, A-Z.)
  30.     
  31.     Conversions are entirely unsigned - so numbers range from 0 to
  32.     4294967295. Roman numerals will only be converted from 1 up to 9999.

  34. 2.3 SWI conversion
  35.  
  36.     This converts between SWI names and numbers. Type the number/name you
  37.     wish to convert into the relevent box, and press Return.

  40. === 3. Misc program features =============================================
  41.  
  42. 3.1 Hi-res sprites
  43.  
  44.     If you are in a high-res mode (i.e. 1:1 pixel aspect ratio) when the
  45.     program starts, it will load high-resolution versions of the sprites
  46.     which it uses. As I can't use all screen modes (I only have a VGA
  47.     monitor) and I haven't tested it with third-party screen modes (such
  48.     as those provided by whizzy graphics cards) or Risc PC screen modes, I
  49.     can't guarantee that this works with your set-up. If it doesn't, then
  50.     please let me know, and tell me what screen mode(s) you are using, so
  51.     I can figure something out.

  109. This program is "Freeware". As far as I am concerned, this means that you
  110. can distribute it to anyone and everyone, PROVIDING that all files within
  111. the !Converter directory are included in their original form, and you
  112. don't make any profit from distribution.

  115. suggestions to me (see below) rather than distributing them all over the
  116. place, as this can lead to large amounts of confusion.
