-
- This is a Quake alike demo written for the RiscPC called
- FQuake, where the F stands for fast, to distinguish form
- another version.
- The only purpose of these files is to give a demonstration of
- what a RiscPC equiped with a Strong Arm processor could make out
- of Quake. This implementation is written from scratch and does
- -not- rely on any of Id owned source code.
- For the moment only a limited number of the original Quake
- features are implemented and the current form is not a game
- but merely a demonstration of my 3d engine. Probably the
- current version will be elaborated more and some flaws will
- be corrected, leading possibly to a full game...
-
- You can fly through the building being displayed.
- As long as you do nothing the animation loops around in demo
- mode. As soon as you click a mouse button you are in control.
- Control is with the mouse. The position of the mouse controls
- your viewing and heading direction. Moving forward and back is
- done with the left and right mouse button. The middle buttion
- in combination with the others gives turbo speed.
- Clicking all buttons at once restarts demo mode.
-
- The scene is drawn in a 640x480 mode and the mumber of frames
- per second are displayed at the top left. As you will see
- on a SA the frame rate is usually more than 20 fps. This is
- a good deal faster than even the fastest pc could do.
- To be fair the pc game does more complex rendering, notably
- light mapping which would slow down the current version
- if implemented...
