How to use - The simple guide
========== ================
Simply double click on the !Stationer application and it will appear on the
iconbar. Clicking left will open up a window for the details to be input and
choosing view from a menu will open up that design. Each item on a design
can be moved by clicking over it and dragging it. To change the style of an
item double click on it. A picture can be inserted, provided it has been
loaded, by using 'Picture -> Insert' and altered in the same way as text.
The background can also be changed.
The designs can be saved as data for re-loading or as draw files for export
to other programs. Each design can also be printed from within the
application.
How To Use - The detailed instructions
========== =========================
Starting off
------------
Double clicking on the !Stationer application will load the application.
Once loaded the details window can be accessed by clicking select on the
iconbar icon or selecting 'Details' from a menu. Into the window that
appears type your personal details. Pressing return after each line will
move the cursor down. The 'Extra' text field is for any messages you may
wish to add to your stationary, e.g. 'With Compliments'. Once all your
personal or business information is entered select 'Apply'. Clicking on
'Close' closes the window without saving the data and 'Reset' blanks all the
fields.
To view an item of stationary, referred to as designs in this document,
select it from the 'View ->' submenu from the main menu.
Changing the Designs
--------------------
At this stage the designs are in their default style. The text position
and style can be changed, pictures can be added and the background can
be altered. It is worth noting here that the address text acts as one
item, this is to allow automatic justification and line spacing.
Changing the Text
-----------------
The text items can be moved and their styles adjusted to make the design
look more appealing.
As default not all of the text items are shown, some are hidden, depending
on the design. For example the Extra text is not shown on the business card
design. If you wish all of the items to be present then select 'Show All'
from a menu opened on a design.
Click on an item of text to select it, shown by the red border. Drag any
item to move it to a new location. Double click on an item to open up the
style window. This window will let you change the font, height and width,
colour, add an underline, and for address items change the justification.
There is also and option to hide the item.
To change the typeface click on the menu button next to the font name.
Select a font from the list that appears.
To change the height of a typeface click on the up and down arrows next to
the word 'Height' or type in the size in the writable field. The width of
the typeface is a percentage of the height, adjusted by clicking on the up
and down arrows.
To change the colour of the text, click on the coloured bar to open up the
colour window. This is a standard colour window, as described below.
You can add an underline to an item of text be selecting the underscored 'U'
icon.
Address texts can be aligned left, centre, right, or fully. Click on the
corresponding icon to select the desired justification.
If an item of text is not needed for a design then toggle the 'Show Item'
off.
Clicking on 'Apply' will apply the style to the given text item. Clicking
'Cancel' will close the window without effecting the item.
Changing the Border
-------------------
If you double click on the background then the background style window will
open. This will let you change the border style and the background colour.
You can select the desired border by clicking on the border, or if no border
is required toggle off the 'Border :' option icon.
To change the background colour, click on the coloured bar to open up the
standard colour window as described below.
Click on 'Apply' to apply the background style to the design or click on
'Cancel' to close the window without any effect.
Adding a picture
----------------
Either a sprite picture or a draw file may be added to a design. Dragging a
sprite file or a Draw file to this application will enable that picture to
be used.
From the menu open over a design select 'Picture -> Insert' to insert a
picture. This will open up the standard picture style window. The buttons at
the side of the picture control the scaling and the buttons below the
picture select whether the sprite picture or Draw picture will be used.
To select a sprite toggle the 'Sprite' option on. The sprite you want can be
selected from the menu obtained by click on the menu icon. To select the
Draw file ensure the 'Draw' option is on.
A picture can be forced to keep its aspect ratio when scaling by turning the
'Lock Aspect' option on. A picture can also be centred within its box when
the 'Centred' option is on, although this has no effect unless its aspect is
locked. Turning the 'Front' option on will make the picture appear on top of
any text in the design.
Click on 'Apply' to enter the picture into the design. 'Cancel' will close
the window without any effect.
A picture's position can be changed in the same way as text, by dragging,
and its scaling by double clicking. A pictures size can also be changed by
click and holding adjust in the bottom right corner.
Selecting 'Remove' from the 'Picture' sub-menu opened over a design will
remove the picture from that design. Selecting 'Del Pic' from the 'Picture'
iconbar sub-menu will delete all pictures from all designs and memory.
Changing Colour
---------------
The colour window, opened from either text style or background style
windows, behaves much the same as most other colour pickers. Slide the
colour bars in the window by dragging them until the required colour is
reached. For fine adjustment the adjacent up and down arrows can be used.
If a default colour is required just click select on that colour from the
palette.
Clicking on 'O.K.' will close the colour picker and enter that colour into
the Style window. Clicking 'Cancel' will close the window without effecting
the original colour.
