  1. This disk contains three applications !SCSIMgr,
  2. !SCSIDiag and !SCSIFlash.
  3.  
  4. SCSIMgr SCSIDiag are updated versions of the 
  5. applications which you received with your SCSI II 
  6. card. A few brief notes on changes to the SCSIMgr 
  7. application can be seen later in these notes.
  8.  
  9. SCSIFlash is an application which will program 
  10. the flash on the SCSI II card with the latest
  11. modules.
  12.  
  13. Simply double click on the application and on 
  14. completion SWITCH the computer OFF then ON again. 
  15.  
  16. NOTE....It is NOT sufficent to do CTRL-BREAK.

  19. SCSI Manager changes.
  20.  
  21. The application has been altered to bring it more in
  22. line with the Acorn Style Guide.
  23.  
  24. It is now possible to enable and disable various
  25. functions if your device supports them; for example
  26. disconnect/reconnect. This is done through the
  27. Driver Flags option on a "per device" basis. Care
  28. must be taken when altering these functions as it
  29. can affect the operation of the device.

  31. A * command SCSIFlags has now been added to 
  32. SCSIDriver so that these flags can be viewed and 
  33. altered at the command line if required. Using this 
  34. you can also set host termination and bus resets.
  35.  
  36. A new button MODE SELECT has been added which gives
  37. you access to the SCSI device mode options. You must
  38. use this with care and in connection with the SCSI 
  39. device command set manual. Not all devices support
  40. this and only some options will be alterable on 
  41. most devices.

  43. An additional option has been added to the host 
  44. settings (via Set Host ID) to allow the SCSI Bus 
  45. Reset to be delayed. This has been added to cope 
  46. with some new hard drives which do not like to 
  47. receive a reset during their power-up cycle.

  50. Other general changes.
  51.  
  52. Removable media device support has been improved and
  53. a special icon added. We now poll removable devices 
  54. waiting for media to be inserted. On shutdown the 
  55. default is that media will be ejected and hard disks
  56. will spin down. A configure option SCSIFSEject has 
  57. been added in order that eject/spin down on shutdown 
  58. can be set to OFF. Drives are now normally unlocked 
  59. and only locked by filecore when necessary. A new 
  60. menu item EJECT has been added for removable media 
  61. devices. This will dismount all partitions on that 
  62. device and eject the media or stop the motor if the 
  63. device does not support eject.

  65. Spot the other little things for yourself as some 
  66. of you have mentioned them at some stage.

  69. Thirdparty modules.
  70.  
  71. You may have modules such as CD-ROM drivers which have
  72. been supplied on floppy disc by ourselves or other 
  73. companies. It may be desirable to put one or more of 
  74. these into the FLASH on the SCSI II interface. This is 
  75. possible using a ThirdParty directory.

  77. An example thirdparty directory with a dummy module and
  78. version file are included on this disc.

  80. Create a similar directory in the modules directory of 
  81. !SCSIFlash and put a version file and your module in 
  82. an appropriate directory as per the example. When you 
  83. run !SCSIFlash you will then get your modules appearing
  84. in the list of modules to be put into the flash.
