  7. Hide your files fom nosey eyes.
  8. Works best if you have your filer windows sorted
  9. alphabetically. Pointless if you have full info.

  11. There is a sample hidden file in this directory; try
  12. running !SeeMe.
  13.  
  14. Hides files. To hide some files, name them in the
  15. name range Hidden1-10, e.g. Hidden5, and then copy
  16. MakeHidden into the same directory, then run it.
  17. They will vanish from sight and MakeHidden will
  18. delete that copy of itself (to avoid telltale copies
  19. of it revealing you have hidden files in that
  20. directory & forgotten to remove MakeHidden). 
  21. Please note, if you hide a file called, e.g.,
  22. Hidden3, you cannot then name another file Hidden3
  23. and hide that also. The hider program will produce
  24. an error if you make it try to.
  25. These files have now had their icons set to mask
  26. all over and been renamed a string of 1-10 hard
  27. spaces (ascii code 160), the number of which depends
  28. on which number they had after the word Hidden in
  29. their filename. To un-hide them, just double-click
  30. on where they should be (beyond the end of the other
  31. files in the window). If you can't find them, two
  32. other applications are provided (!SeeMe and !HideMe)
  33. to reveal these files by changing their icons to
  34. black (but not actually un-packing them) and re-hide
  35. them. Guard these applications well or anyone can
  36. find your hidden files.

  38. It is essential to include a line to Filer_Boot
  39. !Invisible in your desktop !Boot file or the files
  40. won't be invisible after all, just of unknown type.
  41. If you ever use your original copy of MakeHidden
  42. (it is self-deleting), just run !Invisible to
  43. create another.

  45. If you try to hide a file called e.g. Hidden4 and
  46. there is one previously called Hidden4 already
  47. concealed in that directory, the program stop, but
  48. if it was also hiding files called Hidden1-3, these
  49. will be successful. Those of names Hidden5-10 will
  50. be unhidden as the program stopped before it reached
  51. them.
