'I'/'Me'/'My' refers to the copyright holder (Ainsley Pereira)
'You'/'Your' refers to the user (you)
'the Program' refers to this program, including the entire contents of it's
application directory, the directory itself, and any other
files supplied with it.
'copying' refers to the act of reproducing the Program in anyway,
whether onto another disc, hard disc, or any other storage
medium.
'distributing' refers to making a copy accessible to anyone else. This
includes posting a disc to a person or a company (eg a PD
Library), or uploading it to a bulletin board (whether for
private transfer or public access), making it available for
ftp, even if a password is required, posting it via email
(private or otherwise), etc.
The Program is not Public Domain, and remains fully copyrighted software.
You may freely copy and distribute the Program, provided:
a) the Program is not altered in anyway. Since the definition of 'The Program' includes the application directory, this means that no other files may be inserted in it, especially including those annoying '!From' files which some PD Libraries and Bulletin Boards feel they have to add to programs.
b) the Program is checked for viruses before copying. In the case of bulletin boards, this is the responsibility of the person uploading the Program.
c) You may not upload the Program to any bulletin board that makes a compulsory charge for downloading files. Bulletin boards that have a voluntary fund are OK though (eg. Digital Databank)
d) PD/Shareware Libraries may not charge more than a reasonable amount for a disc containing the Program. A 'reasonable amount' covers the disc, postage, a small amount for handling/advertising. If your library charges the same amount or less per disc than APDL or the DataFile then you're OK.
e) You do not include it on a magazine cover disc or CD without first obtaining permission from me. (A simple email to ampy@digibank.demon.co.uk or
a.pereira@cs.ucl.ac.uk (until May 1997) (or snail mail to my address (given elsewhere) will usually do - I only ask so I know about it, permission will usually be given.)
The Program is supplied without any warranty. If it is unsuitable for any purpose, then either ask me to implement extra features, or use another program. I reserve the right not to make any alterations that I do not wish to make.
I cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage caused either directly or indirectly through use or misuse of the Program.
I make no guarantee about the continuation of development of this program, and I reserve the right to completely forget about it if I wish. I would, however, be interested in any comments or bug reports you may have about the Program, and I will attempt to implement any changes, should I feel like it.
It would be appreciated if any PD Libraries distributing this program could send me a copy of their latest catalogue, and perhaps a disc of some recent programs. Also state which version you have, so I can keep you upto date with
the latest versions.
To summarise: Copy the Program as much as you like, give it to your friends, upload it to bulletin boards, send it to PD Libraries, but don't alter it in any way.
