- Help for !Boot by James Cort © 1995
-
- Simply copy this file onto the root directory of your hard disc, press F12,
- type *OPT 4,2, press RETURN twice, copy any files you want to be run on boot
- up to the !Boot.Progs directory and they will be automatically run on boot
- up. To access the Progs directory, hold down SHIFT and double-click on the
- !Boot icon.
-
- Programs which do not return control to the !Boot.!Run file until they
- are stopped may cause clashes (ie. stop the program in its tracks). In order
- to avoid this, move the offending program(s) elsewhere and edit the
- !Boot.!Run file to load the program.
-
- TIP: Don't include help files in the Progs directory or you'll be buried in
- text files when your desktop appears! Another thing - don't be tempted to
- make the boot up sequence too long. Avoid putting in programs which you
- don't use on a regular basis (ie. every time you use the computer), since
- they will slow down the boot sequence and take up huge wads of memory.
-
- This program should work on all versions of RISC OS, but I can only test on
- version 3.1. If you encounter problems, please send me details of the
- computer you are using (nature of error, machine model, operating system,
- added peripherals etc..) and I shall attempt to fix the problem. If you are
- still using Arthur OS (is anyone?), send your name and address to the
- address below and I'll come round your house and laugh in your face!!
-
- Boring bit...
-
- This program is PD, although I retain copyright. As such, it may be copied
- and distributed freely, as long as you do not charge more than a small
- amount for the price of the disc.
-
- It is not in any way guaranteed, and people using it do so at their own
- risk.
