  3. !TeXFonts is part of the !DVIview distribution and, as such, may be freely
  4. distributed as long as the various conditions mentioned in the !DVIview
  5. documentation are met.

  7. !TeXFonts is intended to be the repository of the various font files needed by
  8. TeX and !DVIview. By storing all the font files in a single directory
  9. structure, quite a bit of disc space can be saved. !TeXFonts also uses
  10. 'Messages1' files to speed up installation of the fonts by the font manager.
  11.  
  12. There are three 'types' of TeX font currently stored in !TeXFonts:
  13. 1) The majority of fonts have RISC OS font outlines included and so can be
  14.    used in !DVIview and can be downloaded to Postscript printers via !DVIview.
  15. 2) A few fonts (those prefixed with an 'i' in the LaTeXFonts directory) have
  16.    RISC OS bitmaps and so can be displayed in !DVIview but will not download
  17.    to Postscript printers (they're fine on other printers though).
  18. 3) Some fonts only contain the TeX font information and so they cannot be
  19.    used with !DVIview. All of these fonts are stored in the 'NotRISCOS'
  20.    directory.

  22. If you intend to only use !DVIview for viewing/printing files then you
  23. can save disc space by removing all the 'mf' files. You can also remove the
  24. contents of the 'NotRISCOS' directory. In a future release I may provide a
  25. program for removing 'mf' files automatically but I haven't got round to
  26. writing it yet.
