Sheet v1.0
Sheet is a Shareware program, you can try the program before you buy it.
To continue using the software, you must register it (see below). When
registered you will recieve version updates, and add-in applications as
they become available. Sheet v1.0 may be distributed to other users in its
original form; registering is required for each copy.
Installation
The ZIP file includes five files: Sheet.app, Sheet.hlp, Sheet.pic,
Example.s01 and Sheet.txt. To install Sheet, place Sheet.app into your
\app\ directory, Sheet.hlp, Sheet.pic and Example.s01 must go into a new
directory named \sheet\ on the same drive as the application.
Add Sheet to your System screen by using Install Application option on
the System screen menu. The Sheet appication with its icon and the example
file will then appear.
The help file, Sheet.hlp, is not critical to the running of Sheet, and
may be deleted if unwanted (it uses 7K of disk space). The example file
may also be deleted at any time.
Using Sheet
The best way to learn how to use Sheet is to look at the example sheet
and read the help screens. In the exmaple sheet, use the arrow keys to move
from cell to cell. Press Enter to view the actual cell data, i.e. formulae
behind values, for examples of cell data construction.
The number of sheets open concurrently is limited only by memory. Each
open sheet takes up about 19K. This stays constant because work is done on
the actual file rather than a copy. The About screen on the Special menu
displays the number of free bytes on the disk.
Sheet can import and export DIF files. These can be read by such
applications as Lotus 123, Microsoft Excel and many others, either via
translate programs or directly. Some have sophisticated enough search and
replace routines to convert Sheet's formulae into its own type. For those
that don't, formulae can be exported as values rather than text. Sheet has
search and replace routines to facilitate importing DIF files.
Upto four compatible applications can loaded into Sheet at one time. A
graph application will be available soon with registration of Sheet,
enabling a graphical display of cell data in various different formats,
such as line graphs, bar graphs and pie charts. For anyone interested in
writing their own applications for Sheet, source code and documentation
is available on request.
There are a couple a major ommissions to the program that I would like
to add some time. One is variable column widths, which just requires some
extra work. The other, printing support, is not so easy as I don't know
how to interface to the printer drivers. If anyone could let me know how it
is done I would be grateful.
