  1. Welcome to FAIRWAY 2.2, the golf game for the Psion 3a.

  3. This note is in English, but please note that the program will run happily on
  4. German or Italian machines as well, with all screens, dialogs and on-line help
  5. in the appropiate language. The FAIR22.TXT manual file is, I'm afraid, only
  6. in English, but everything you need to know is in the on-line help.

  8. Quick installation:
  9. Max. 124k disk space required (including *one* chosen language module only),
  10. so the program will fit on a 128k SSD.
  11. * Put FAIRWAY.OPA into \APP\ and make a \APP\FAIRWAY directory.
  12. * Put FAIRWAY.PIC into \APP\FAIRWAY\
  13. * Put ENGLISH.OVL into \APP\FAIRWAY\   (#)
  14. * Put CLAP4.WVE, CHEER3.WVE and SWING2.WVE into either \APP\FAIRWAY\ *or*
  15.   any \WVE\ directory.
  16. * Install the application using Psion-I in the usual fashion.

  18. Released as shareware. The shareware version is *fully functioning* in every
  19. way, with the nuisance factor being the interruption of various 'nag' screens,
  20. encouraging you to support shareware authors like myself by sending me the
  21. registration fee. I will then issue you with a personalised key-code, which
  22. you can type into FAIRWAY 2.2 from the Psion-R screen, and which will disable
  23. all the nag-screens and display your name every time the program is booted.

  25. Note that I am happy to accept registration fees in cash in Sterling, Dollars,
  26. French Francs or DM, or cheques or Eurocheques *in UK pounds Sterling*.
  27. The fee is 12 UK pounds, although previous registered users of FAIRWAY 1.0
  28. can register for half-price. Note that FAIRWAY 2.x registered users can
  29. continue to use the v2.x registration code given to them, and that this
  30. upgrade is effectively free.

  34. (#) Note that if you really want to run FAIRWAY 2.2 in German, French,
  35. Danish or Italian modes, simply install either DEUTSCH.OVL, FRANCAIS.OVL,
  36. DANSK.OVL or ITALIANO.OVL instead of ENGLISH.OVL and create a small file
  37. called either GERMAN.FLG, FRENCH.FLG, DANISH.FLG or ITALIAN.FLG in your M:\
  38. root directory. This will 'flag' to FAIRWAY 2.2 to switch languages. This
  39. information may be of use to you.

  42. Note to hackers: Please don't try to hack this game. Although everything
  43. is possible, I have added extra security features to FAIRWAY to try and
  44. stop reverse translation and engineering. It really isn't worth it! Use your
  45. undoubted programming skills to write something of your own instead and
  46. make a positive contribution to the Psion software world!!

  49. Note to previous users of FAIRWAY 2.0 and 2.1: The sound samples in v2.2 are
  50. slightly shorter to save room on your SSDs. If space isn't a problem for
  51. you and you would like to continue to use the longer samples from v2.0 (or
  52. even v2.1) then feel free to copy the old WVE files over the ones supplied
  53. here. Note the change in name of two of them, e.g. you must call them
  54. CLAP4.WVE, SWING2.WVE and CHEER3.WVE . I'm sure you get the idea!
