- Legal Declaration
- =================
-
- In the legal declaration below, "This Product" is defined to be all the
- files within the original archive (ie. not just !ArcWeb, it includes any
- support applications bundled with it).
-
- "the author" is Stewart Brodie (S.N.Brodie@ecs.southampton.ac.uk)
-
-
- This version of this product is 'freeware'. My definition of 'freeware':
- This means that the author retains copyright over the product, but allows
- unlimited distribution except:
-
-
- i) No charge must be made (except for a nominal fee for distribution media)
- ii) This Product must be distributed as a complete package
- iii) This Product may not be distributed as part of a non-free
- [free as in (i)] package (of any kind, magazine/hardware/software)
- without prior consent from the author.
- iv) During further redistribution, it must be made clear to the recipient
- that no remote fetching tools are included in the archive, unless such
- tools have been added by the redistributor. It must also be made clear
- that these fetching tools are not part of the original distribution.
- v) If any further distribution occurs compliant with all of the above,
- credit must be clearly given to the author.
-
- This version may be freely uploaded to FTP sites, provided all the above
- conditions are met, and all the conditions in the section below regarding
- FTP uploads are met.
-
- No liability whatsoever is accepted by the author of this product for losses
- or damage of any kind at all arising, or allegedly arising, from the use, or
- misuse, of This Product. You are hereby warned that any costs incurred
- through the use of this package over a non-free networking medium are the
- sole responsibility of the user.
-
- The author does not guarantee the functionality of the package, and does not
- guarantee to fix any reported bugs, although the author will investigate bug
- reports and may release new versions.
-
- You may not disassemble or reverse engineer this software in any way.
-
- Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) is a registered trademark of, and a
- service mark of, CompuServe Inc. This software does NOT include any code
- for the manipulation of GIF format files, except to recognise that the 3
- letters G I F at (offsets 0 to 2 inclusive) in a file indicate a GIF format
- file. In particular this program does not contain any version of LZ
- compression or decompression code. This program is not subject to
- restrictions imposed on GIF and LZW related products as declared by Unisys
- on 28 December 1994, or any future declarations of patent ownership on said
- GIF or LZ technologies.

- All other trademarks acknowledged

- FTP Uploads
- ===========
-
- The primary FTP site is now cslib.ecs.soton.ac.uk in /pub/Acorn/ArcWeb
-
- This version has also been uploaded by the author to ftp.demon.co.uk and
- micros.hensa.ac.uk. These sites will hold the most recent version, subject
- to a short delay when a new version is released while the archive maintainer
- moves the archive into position.
-
- Uploading to other FTP sites is unrestricted, unless that site mirrors either
- of the two sites nominated in the previous paragraph, in which case uploading
- should not occur. (Let the mirroring software do its job - except for the
- new mirror of HENSA/micros's Acorn section at ftp.demon.co.uk, which I shall
- personally upload).
-
- The latest version is usually available via HTTP at:
- ftp://cslib.ecs.soton.ac.uk/pub/Acorn/ArcWeb/
-
-
-
- To run this program on a standalone system you require:
-
- RISC OS 3.10 or later
- (tested under RISC OS 3.5 as well)
- 2MB RAM minimum (4MB or more recommended)
- !WebCache installed in a R/W filesystem.
- !ArcwebLcl running *
- !ArcwebImg running **
- ChangeFSI / gif2spr
- Acorn DrawFile module (from ftp.acorn.co.uk)
-
-
- * You don't absolutely require !ArcwebLcl if you have another
- utility loaded which fetches the URLs which you are using.
-
- ** You don't need this running if you will not be viewing GIF
- or JPEG or XBM or any other images.
