If you are reading this with Webster, you probably don't need this information. But there are some useful things you can do to make webster look and work better on your machine.
<h2>Important Infomation</h2>

<LI>Use the 'Edit Fonts' menu to change the fonts to something more suitable. Some styles (<TT>TeleType</tt>, <code>Code</code>, <samp>Sample</samp> and <kbd>Keyboard</kbd>) should be a fixed spaced font.
<LI>Providing you have TCPIP version 2.01 or later then http access to the internet should work assuming TCPIP is working and running.
<LI>If you have version 2.04 or later of TCPIP, then ftp fetches may work as well. (The ftp fetcher is untested with a network and is very dependant on TCPIP working perfectly for correct operation)
<LI>Read all the documentation, such as it is.

<h2>Useful Infomation</h2>

<LI>Inline GIF Images are currently decoded by a utility called <a href="gif2spr.html">gif2spr</a>.
Alternatively you can change the <quote>Gif Decoder</quote> in the <quote>Viewers</quote> section of the Choices windows and use any GIF to sprite converter with a command line interface.
<LI>JPEG images (Inline or as the destination of links) need ChangeFSI for decoding. All that is require is that RISC OS has 'seen' the application.
<li>The filetype used for HTML is currently &FAF. (The same as for ARCWeb) If this clashes with a file type you have allocated for something else, you need to change the following

<li>The name of the <var>file_FAF</var> icon in the !Sprites file.
<li>The <var>Alias$@FileType_FAF</var> and <var>Alias$@RunType_FAF</var> lines in the !Run and !Boot files.
<LI>All occurances of &FAF in webster's <a href="../scantype">ScanType</a>, <a href="../MIME2Type">MIME2Type</a> and <a href="../translate">translate</a> files.

<h2><a NAME="ReadOnly">Webster</A> in a Read Only Archive or Filesystem</h2>
If you intend to run Webster from a <em>readonly</em> archive or filesystem, you need to change the following
<ul>
<li>The <var>Webster$CacheDir</var> line in the !Run file. I suggest setting it to <var><Wimp$ScrapDir>.Webster.Cache</var>.
<LI>The <var>Webster$Choices</var> line in the !Run file. I suggest setting it to <var><Wimp$ScrapDir>.Webster.Choices</var>.
<LI>Running Webster should then create the directories. (Though you may have to create them your self if the examples shown are not used)
