- 1Disc Based Magazines
- 1~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
- 1LUNCHTIME
-
- 1This is a new disc based magazine that has been ported over
- 1from the Amiga by Dr Doggie Phd.(c. Eng.)!!!
- 1It’s fun and has nothing to do with computers. It’s full of
- 1crazy articles and the odd serious one. The graphics are very
- 1good and I can recommend it 100%.
-
- 1Details of how to obtain the next issue are included. It is
- 1hoped that you will enjoy this fun disc and will want to obtain
- 1future issues direct from the authors of LUNCHTIME.
-
- 1The Datafile wishes you all great success.

-
- 3{FLUNCH 2 } ({S487}Kb)
- 4( Hamsters on the Prowl)
- 4This is even better than the first issue. The graphics are
- 4outstanding and the articles are varied and some very funny.
- 4You will have to de-archive this disc on to two discs before you
- 4run Lunchtime II. Full instructions are on the disc.
-
- 3{FTipTop1 } ({S258}Kb)
- 4The Summer issue of Tip Top the interactive PD reveiw guide.
- 4Tim Willis has reviewed another large batch of PD and as always
- 4he pulls no punches. I also get the feeling that at least one PD
- 4library didn't like what Tim said about them.
- 4This issue is up to the expected graphical standards and also
- 4has screen shoots of the reviewed packages.
-

- 4(Edward’s Revenge)
- 4Another great issue. As with Lunchtime II it is archived.
- 4You will have to transfer the contents of this disc on to two
- 4new discs. The start up screen is both superb and impressive.
- 4The articles are up to their usual standard with a good mix of
- 4subjects, humour and excellent graphics.
-
- 3{F!CD-01/93 } ({S243}Kb)
- 4This is the first issue of another magazine called 'Core
- 4Dump' by Zynx of Arc Empire of Norway. The articles are
- 4very interesting and varied. From 310 8meg upgrades to
- 4Animal rights. The front end is easy to use and the text
- 4scrolls all four ways!!
- 4Worth a look and read.

- 4(Yul Brynner’s Memorial Toolshed)
- 4They have done it again a brilliant mix of sound graphics and
- 4some very good articles. Remember none of the articles have
- 4got a computing theme. Putting it on disc is just a very
- 4friendly thing to do.
- 4This issue is archived and comes with the first issue on the
- 4same disc.

- 3{FIllusions } ({S551}Kb)
- 4This is a demo version of the latest Archimedes/A3000/A5000
- 4disc based magazine. It will contain articles of interest to
- 4all owners and it’s being produced by John Reed.
- 4The monthly release will include three discs containing Music,
- 4Demos, articles etc. This demo version has archived PD and a
- 4questionnaire for you to send to John so that he can include
- 4the right mix of articles and software.
- 4Good Luck John.

-
- 3{FIllusions2 } ({S461}Kb)
- 4A great improvement on the original, John has made some very
- 4good changes to the magazine and it is highly recommended.
- 4This sample issue is full of interesting articles including:
- 4Editorial - Games - Misc - Programs and Software. Eighteen
- 4articles in all. The Illusions demo is in a class of its own.
-
- 3{FTipTopPlus } ({S333}Kb)
-
- 4This is the pilot issue of a very nice looking magazine
- 4called Tip Top by The Sidewinder alias Tim Willis.
- 4Its uses to very good effect Musberry Consultants
- 4'Bookbinder'. This pilot issue contains some 26 pages of
- 4editorial and reports on what's new and worth having in
- 4the ever changing world of PD and Shareware.
- 4Tim seems to be quite honest in his evaluation and he has
- 4managed to present this issue with some flare.
- 4Complete with a few PD items: !Decor8, !Magglass, !Pootah
- 4and !Puddytat.
- 4Give it a try, I'm sure you'll like it.

- 3{FOpinions } ({S680}Kb)
- 4PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL FOUR ISSUES OF OPINIONS ARE ARCHIVED
- 4AND COME ON A SINGLE DD DISC.
-
- 4Opinions 1 and 2
- 4~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- 4Opinions is a disc based magazine for users of the Acorn
- 4Archimedes, A3000 and A5000. As far as I am aware, it is the
- 4only truly Public Domain (ie all issues are PD not just the
- 4first one) magazine which is all about the Acorn RISC-OS range.
- 4This is the first and second issue on one disc. It contains
- 4news, reviews, and Public Domain information and some very good
- 4graphics screens.
- 4It is produced by Linton Dawe. As with all Lintons’ projects
- 4I am sure this will be another outstanding success.
-
- 4Opinions 3
- 4~~~~~~~~~~
- 4The third issue of this interesting disc magazine. This issue
- 4features the following subjects:
- 4Sound output on the Archimedes and how to improve it - Games
- 4and PD reviews - DTP and Fonts and more great graphics.
- 4If you would like to voice any of your opinions on any aspect
- 4of the Archimedes scene then send Linton an article.
-
- 4Opinions 4
- 4~~~~~~~~~~
- 4The fourth issue of this great magazine. This issue covers
- 4the following:
- 4!TheMag! is the main magazine, !Colour! contains some pretty
- 4graphics screens and !ThePD! contains some of the public domain
- 4software mentioned in the P.D. pages. As with other issues it
- 4is well put together and easy to use.
-
- 2{DMA007}
-
- 3{FNEWDAWN 1 } ({S761}Kb)
- 4This is by a very large margin the best PD disc magazine.
- 4It contains 100K of text files which include an editorial,
- 4articles on software, hints ‘n’ tips on Amiga to Arc software
- 4transfer, cheat on Enter the Realm and how to get the best
- 4from !Paint.
- 4Info on sound and multimedia with details on how to contribute
- 4to the magazine.
- 4Information on graphics, this issue deals with Mandelbrots,
- 4Quantums MegaDemo and words of wisdom from Narc, Quantum’s
- 4graphics man.
- 4The first part of a great sci-fi story called Venera.
- 4Not only do you get these well written articles with a neat
- 4front end and with lots of music, four in total, a different
- 4tune with each major part of the magazine. But it also has
- 4a great game called SYLPH. This was written by Tom Cooper and
- 4is a up market version of Jet Set Willy, fly around with your
- 4rocket back pack and blast the nasties and collect the goodies.
- 4To top all this off the magazine also includes a great flight
- 4simulator called 1914. Fly your World War 1 plane and destroy
- 4the enemies airfields and planes. Great.
- 4As I have said above this is the best magazine for the Acorn
- 4range of super computers. You will require 2megs or more the
- 4archived file contains over 1300k of interesting articles and
- 4top class software designed to give you hours of fun.
-
-
- 2{DMA008}
-
- 3{FNEWDAWN 2 } ({S725}Kb)
- 4The Quantum team have done it yet again. Another great issue of
- 4this very popular magazine disc. Three excellent pieces of music
- 4from Exel. Tom Coopers has been hard at it to bring yet another
- 4fantastically exciting game. Better and faster than SWIV but
- 4it’s PD and only costs you £1.35 inclusive. That’s value.
- 4Cobra has come up with another flight sim. Just in case you
- 4haven’t seen the armageddon game on the Amiga, this game is a bit
- 4of a copy of it. Basically, you have to fly around the combat
- 4arena, attacking, well everything in sight really. The enemy has
- 4constructed vast networks of reactors, bases, combat defences and
- 4power lines. Your job is to use the latest in fly by Archie
- 4technology to take out these enemy scum. If you’re one of these
- 4people who likes games with an environmental theme to it, why not
- 4pretend that the enemy robot forces have occupied this planet and
- 4have polluted it to the extent that all the vegetation has died
- 4off, and you have to put it back to normality. All good fun.
- 4The story goes on..................
-
- 4The articles as usual cover a wide range of subjects including
- 4the question, where do Acorn go from here?
- 4Get this issue, you are bound to get a lot of enjoyment from it.
-
- 2{DMA009}
-
- 3{FNewDawn 3 } ({S786}Kb)
- 4The one everyone has been waiting for is now here. This very
- 4popular magazine discs now sports a new front called NICE
- 4(New Dawn Icon Control Environment). After three very good
- 4intro screens including a warning about the textual content of
- 4some of the articles that are 18 plus only, a small bubbeling
- 4New Dawn icon graces the icon bar.
- 4From this icon you can get more information on the group who
- 4produce the magazine, Quantum. You can open the resources
- 4directory or go to the magazine.
- 4Once in the magazine the NICE is a pleasure to use. You will
- 4have easy access to the twelve articles / sections that include
- 4programminf, software, hints & tips, the scene plus much more.
- 4This issues game is a commercial quality shoot em up from
- 4MATRIX alias Jack Parkinson called Artemis. I have played this
- 4one for hours, it's smooth, colourful and noisey!! This issue
- 4is worth getting for the game alone.
- 4The music must not go unmentioned. It is superb, three first
- 4class tracks plus a new player and front end to control them.
- 4Player by Phoenix and music by Exel
- 4GET THIS ISSUE NOW IT'S FANTASTIC.
-
- 2{DMA010}
-
- 3{F!Thumper2 } ({S749}Kb)
- 4The second issue of Thumper by Robin Jubber. This issue features
- 4¤ Three tunes to choose from by pressing Adjust including one
- 4very bad one with my little sister on lead vocals.
- 4¤ After Dark. Game news with *screenshots*!
- 4¤ The ChapterHouse. Loads of cheat modules.
- 4¤ Games- Nasty2+designer.
- 4¤ Many pictures accompanying the articles.
- 4¤ Extra tracker + symphony modules + ray trace file + Jpeg file
- 4+jpeg reader + speed utility etc.
- 4¤ Picture gallery. Luverly.
-
-
- 2{DMA011}
- 3{F!Archive1 } ({S700}Kb)
-
- 4Archive’1 is a sort of menu system. It contains a number of
- 4programs that included a new disc based magazine called
- 4Spectrum. When run a window opens that gives you easy access to
- 4the articles which feature reviews of utilities, games & demos,
- 4articles on trackers, flight sims, the scene, an interview and
- 4a short editorial. All the articles are short and to the point
- 4so you won't have to spend hours reading them! The package also
- 4contains:
-
- 4* Frac - Maths program.
- 4* Quad - " " " ".
- 4* ISprites - Utility.
- 4* SetDir - " ".
- 4* Useless - " ".
- 4* ISControl - (Sounds)Tracker Player
- 4* CombatAd - A disc filler!
- 4* SlideShow - A Mono Akira Slide Show.
- 4* Constipati - Draw file.
- 4* Dob - " " " ".
- 4* Dog - " " " ".
- 4* Sylvester - " " " ".
- 4* Ugly - " " " ".
-
- 4All the above programs have been written by members of Sounds
- 4Riscy. For the first issue this is quite good and I'm sure that
- 4the contents of future issues will mature and grow.
-
-
- 2{DMA012}
-
- 3{F!!Magazine } ({S782}Kb)
- 4This is a special one-disk sample issue of Kaleidoscope Disk
- 4Magazine, to judge the demand for such a program. If it proves
- 4successful (by a high enough rate of survey returns), we shall
- 4produce a three-disk magazine on a regular basis, containing
- 4articles and programs.
- 4I have to admit that a lot of work has gone in to this magazine
- 4disc. Its presentation is of the highest quality and the
- 4graphics are sure to please.
- 4The following magazine issues are not big enought to require a disc
- 4of their own so thay are offered as Pic'n'Mix files.
-
-
- 2{DMA013}
-
- 3{FLunchtime5 } ({S482}Kb)
- 4Wardrobe Racing for Forigners
- 4~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
- 4Yet another fun packed issue of this very popular magazine
- 4disc. The standards are still very high with a great
- 4animated cartoon sequence to get you in the mood.
-
- 4I can't help feel that some of the team have a few screws
- 4loose!! It does mean that you will have a good laugh while
- 4reading the articles.
-
- 4Articles (c) A.J.Bennett, N.Davies, P.Golds,
- 4N.Harper, Morribund Hedgehog, N.Patel, P.Todd.
-
- 3{FTipTop } ({S201}Kb)
-
- 4At last someone who is willing to say exactly what they think!!
- 4Tim Willis runs a review of the current PD libraries, we didn't
- 4quite make the top, and it spills the beans on cost, catalogues
- 4and speed of service. He also gives honest reviews on much of
- 4the latest releases and some you may have missed.
-
- 4This is the Spring issue and I hope he continues to be so honest
- 4while maintaining such a high class display sequence.
-
-
- 2{DMA014}
-
- 3{F!Thumper } ({S345}Kb)
-
- 4A new disc based magazine. This one is by RAJ, Robin Jubber
- 4and he is on the look out for anyone who would like to submit
- 4articles, pictures, tunes, reviews or just your views on what's
- 4happening at the moment. The first issue comes complete with
- 4a game called !Nastie. You control what looks like a purple
- 4halloween lantern and as you blast around the maze you have to
- 4find diamonds and if you are lucky you’ll find the golden crown
- 4of Fandoria. Not up to the standards of New Dawn or Lunchtime
- 4but give RAJ time and I’m sure the magazine will improve.
-
-
- 3{FAAUC } ({S396}Kb) «
-
- 2A very simple Acorn magazine disc the Acorn Archimedes User Club
- 2contains text files for you to view in Edit or your favourite
- 2text editor. It also contains PD in the form of utilities,
- 2sillies and Protracker and tunes. No new items though. Not the
- 2pick of the bunch. The full version loads to the icon bar and a
- 2menu similar to the older version of Archimedes world, without
- 2the waiter, is then given. You can load the articles from here
- 2and it also opens windows that contain the various applications
- 2that are supplied with each disc.
-
- 2It will feature a special series on ‘Video’ and review video
- 2related hardware and software. The aim is for you to get the
- 2best from your machine for the smallest outlay possible.
-
- 2Membership will cost you £25 for a years worth of monthly discs.
-

-
- 3{F!Hardliner } ({S350}Kb)«
-
- 4Quite an interesting magazine disc as long as you can understand
- 4a little Germany. This is a BytePool Production by Tim Juretzky.
- 4It contains a demo section, mailbox, hint ‘n’ tips, games section
- 4plus a lot more. It has a good front end and very smooth text
- 4scroller.
-
- 3{FEntropy } ({S397}Kb)
- 4The first issue of Entropy by P. Lurcock & P. Taphouse. It was
- 4produced using MEditate v.3.31 The Magazine Editor from the crew
- 4who produce the Lunchtime magazine.
- 4You are given a choice of music, or none at all and there are
- 4articles on Nova Paint, the Oak recorder to name but two.
- 4A good first issue.
