Julian Lawrence is a cartoonist born in Portsmouth, England in 1963. He studied at the University of Manitoba, and has produced numerous magazines, scratch animation, comic books, and 'zines.
Scope and content
The collection consists of black and white publications featuring the work of Julian Lawrence and several other collaborators, including "Terror Jugular" 1 and 2, "Cartoon Party" 1 and 2, "Rubberneck" 1, 2, 3, "Niveus Nanus" 1, "Break the Ice," "Napoleon and Josephine," and an audio tape recording of music inspired by Lawrence's filmwork, accompanied by a stereo cassette player, as well as one strip of 16 mm film and a video tape recording of Lawrence's recent [1997] performance "The Light Fantastic," with programme notes and with hand painted film and scratch animation.
