Note
The artist observed that, "This body of work refers to the process of exposing the beginning of a painting. The inspiration began with several feelings I felt when my mother died. The piece depicts solitude, search for love, and fear. I chose the Plexiglas for its transparent quality and because I wanted to reveal the truth about painting, which I believe is similar to the layers of pain and joy life builds in us. Therefore, it was primordial to save the first brush strokes so that the viewer could sense the importance of gesture that had engaged the dialogue, just like my mother's death had inspired this body of work. It is surrealist, as it is the expression of the mood that is of primary concern, so the interpretation is opened to the experience and thought of each individual person."
