King Anderson is an artist born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1941. From 1961-1964 he studied drawing, painting and design at the Vancouver School of Art, and from 1989-1991 he studied art history and contemporary art at Simon Fraser University.
Scope and content
The collection consists of five video cassette VHS tape recordings in a slotted birch plywood stand, 1997. The recordings are titled; "ECIAD Grad '97" Hi8 video, 30 minutes, May 1997, "Wildlife Week" Hi8 video, 10 minutes, June 1997, "Artropolis '93" Hi8 video, 47 minutes, Summer 1997, "Video Postcard" 16 minutes, June 1997, "Artwork and Photo-montage," 10 minutes, June 1997, and accompanied by a plastic laminated page with the artist's statement and curriculum vitae.
Note
The artist stated: "In the middle 1960s I was 2nd cameraman shooting 8mm film on Mary McNeil's movie "Please Keep Off The Grass." In the late 1970s I took b. & w. porta-pack video workshops with Andrew Krummins, who was associated with Video In. In the late 1980s I was documenting Art shows at Brad Chernoff's MacEwen Arts gallery on Pender Street using borrowed compact 8mm video camera. In between all this I've shot thousands of 35mm colour slides."
