Daniel Van Klei is an art teacher born in 1972 in Chilliwack, British Columbia. He studied at Simon Fraser University, where he received a Bachelor of Education degree in Visual Arts and Geography in 1997, as well as Bachelor of Arts in 1996; additionally he became an accredited Gemmologist with the Canadian Institute of Gemology after studies at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1991, and obtained his Private Pilot's License in Abbotsford, B.C. in 1990.
Scope and content
The collection consists of a video tape recording by Daniel Van Klei of slide images related to 'non-human animal' themes, 1996, of personal interest, and two plastic laminated leaves with text by Van Klei, 21 x 27.5 cm.

The artist observed that "Today I believe...'The authentic Ideological artistic position is a pattern of thoughts not consciously diagnosed or comprehended by those who hold them.'"
