  30. Installation:
  31. To install the Shivers Demo, run the file s2demozp.exe.  The "Win-zip self-extractor" will automatically 
  32. install the demo under the directory: "C:\Sierra\S2Demo".  If you would like to install to a different 
  33. directory, you will need to substitute that directory in the "Win-zip self-extractor"  dialog box.

  35. To Run Demo:
  36. Double-click on "S2Demo" icon in the directory you have installed the demo. If you would like to add a 
  37. short-cut to your desktop (Win Æ95 only), left-click and drag the "S2Demo" icon onto your desktop.  
  38. Double-click on this icon to start the demo.

  40. Optional Video & Slide Show:
  41. Follow the same extraction process to see the movie and slide show located in "movie.exe" and 
  42. "slide.exe" respectively.  These will now be available through the main screen of the demo.

  44. How to Play:
  45. The Shivers demo contains 360 degree panoramas in which you can use your mouse or arrow 
  46. keys to look around. You can get close-ups by clicking on certain objects. To quit, press the Esc 
  47. key.

  49. Options:
  50. There are several options in this demo that you can toggle on and off. 
  51. 1. Press the F2 key to change the resolution of the screen. You can press it four times for a total 
  52. of four different resolutions.
  53. 2. Press the F3 key to turn the caption option on. Press it again to turn it off.
  54. 3. Press the F4 key to turn the "hot" cursor off. The "hot" cursor indicates what you can click on. 
  55. Press it again to turn it on.
  56. 4. Press the F5 key to reduce the movie screen. Press it again to return to the original size.

  58. Performance Tuning
  59. If the game is not quite running smoothly, there are several ways you can improve your 
  60. performance on your system. The first two deal with the "Options" listed above, the third fine tunes 
  61. your audio by eliminating stuttering sounds.
  62.  
  63. PANORAMA
  64. 1)  If, while looking around in a panoramic scene, you are experiencing slow refresh rates, you 
  65. can use the F2 key to toggle to a smaller resolution. Once at the smallest resolution, pressing F2 
  66. will return the screen to the largest resolution.

  68. MOVIE
  69. 2) If you are experiencing poor performance while viewing the movie clip, you may use the F5 key 
  70. to toggle to a half-screen sized movie. This should vastly improve your viewing capabilities.

  72. SOUNDS
  73. 3) If you are experiencing stuttering sounds throughout the game, you should return to the main 
  74. title screen and click in the upper left hand corner. This will display a dialog box that will ask you to 
  75. click Yes or No regarding the quality of sounds that you are hearing. Upon closing of the dialog 
  76. box, you are required to shut down the game and restart it. Continue this exercise until you do not 
  77. hear stuttering sounds.
  78. Note: You should only do this if you are experiencing stuttering or skipping sounds, as side effects 
  79. (such as latency sounds) may occur.

  82. Connecting to the web site:
  83. If you are connecting to the Shivers web site from within the demo, you will not be able to hear the 
  84. wave files (web downloadable sound files) as we cannot play two wave files at the same time.
