  5. WinJammer is a fully featured MIDI sequencer for Windows 3.0.  It uses standard
  6. MIDI files, giving you access to a huge number of songs.  WinJammer also
  7. contains a companion program called WinJammer Player, which is used to play MIDI
  8. song files in the background.

  10. Major features of WinJammer include:

  12.     - up to 64 tracks
  13.     - runs in ALL Windows modes (including enhanced mode)
  14.     - very powerful editing commands
  15.     - unique piano roll style notation for editing
  16.     - full online help
  17.     - supports standard MIDI files
  18.     - supports MIDI system exclusive bulk dumps

  20. Major features of WinJammer Player include:
  21.     - supports standard MIDI files
  22.     - up to 64 tracks
  23.     - runs in ALL Windows modes (including enhanced mode)
  24.     - in enhanced mode, will even play while in DOS

  26.     - builds albums of songs to play (forever if desired)

  30. The following equipment is required to use WinJammer:
  31.     - PC running Microsoft Windows 3.0 or above (any mode)
  32.     - a mouse (not strictly required, but very handy)
  33.     - a Roland MPU-401 MIDI interface (or compatible)
  34.     - a MIDI Keyboard
  35.     - some MIDI noise boxes

  37. Actually the above list is somewhat misleading.  All you really need is a PC and
  38. Windows.  However it is difficult to play or record without some MIDI equipment.

  42. Installation

  44. If you are upgrading to WinJammer from a previous release, please see the next
  45. section.  Otherwise, simply create a directory and copy the files into it.  You
  46. should have the following files:
  47.         WINJAMMR.EXE    - WinJammer executable
  48.         WINJAMMR.HLP    - the online help file for WinJammer
  49.         WJMRPLAY.EXE    - WinJammer Player executable
  50.         WJMRPLAY.HLP    - the online help file for WinJammer Player
  51.         MIDILIB.DLL     - DLL which runs the MIDI hardware
  52.         README          - this file
  53.         SONGS.DOC       - explanation and credits on sample songs
  54.         MIN-G.MID       - Bach's Minuet in G (kind of)
  55.         GREENSL.MID     - Nice arrangement of Greensleeves
  56.         CHINESE.MID     - Chinese Dance from the Nutcracker
  57.         WHATSNEW.DOC    - description of recent changes

  59. Add the programs to program manager using the File New command of program
  60. manager.  Double click on the icons to start the programs.

  62. Once WinJammer is started, use the MIDI Configure command to configure WinJammer
  63. for your hardware.  The help contains a Quick Start topic which may also be
  64. interesting.

  68. Upgrading from old versions
  69.  
  70. Because the file names have changed from the previous releases of MIDI Edit and
  71. WinJammer, you should delete the old files before installing this version.  You
  72. can then use the File Properties command in the Windows Program Manager to
  73. change the name of the executable file.

  77. Registration

  79. WinJammer is not a free program, but is being distributed under the Shareware
  80. concept.  This allows you to evaluate the program to determine whether it is
  81. worth anything, and then buy it if you are going to use it.  You must register
  82. the program if you are going to use it.

  84. The version of WinJammer you have is fully featured.  If you use WinJammer after
  85. a reasonable evaluation period of two weeks, register the program.  If you don't
  86. think WinJammer is worth the money, let me know this too, and I'll see if I can
  87. satisfy you with the next release.

  89. Registration costs $50 US.  To register, simply send me a cheque or money order
  90. for $50 US at the address below.  Registrations are also accepted through
  91. Software Excitement!, who will accept Visa/Mastercard.  For information on

  110. changed or modified in any way except by the author.  WinJammer and WinJammer
  111. Player may be freely distributed so long as all files are included and no money
  112. is charged.  A small copying fee not exceeding $10 US may be charged.

  114. All warranties are disclaimed, including damage to hardware and/or software from
  115. use of this program.  In no event will I be liable to you for any damages,
  116. including lost profits, lost savings or other incidental or consequential
  117. damages arising out of your use or inability to use the program, or any other
  118. claim by any other party.  In any event, the extent of my liability is limited
  119. to amount of money received by me from you.
