  3. This file contains information about last minute changes to PDL or other
  4. important user information.  It will also get you started if you do not have
  5. time to read the PDL.DOC file.

  7. What's New
  8. ----------
  9. PDL315 contains several new features:
  10.  - Market Close pages for most actives on NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ
  11.  - Mutual Fund summary page
  12.  - Market Update section summary
  13.  - Enhanced Vacation mode for multiprocessing under Windows or OS/2 2.0
  14.  - Next Program Call to automatically run a program after the download
  15. Refer to the PDL.DOC file to for details on how to use the new features.

  17. PDL315 is a maintenance update that provides minor technical improvements as
  18. well as support for changes made to the Market Close section of Prodigy on
  19. 7/14/92.  Updates will be distributed on the FlexSoft BBS, 510-829-2293, when
  20. Prodigy makes changes to the service.

  23. Installing PDL
  24. --------------
  25. If you have a previous version of PDL installed on your system, be sure to
  26. write down your registration code prior to running the PDLCONF program.  It
  27. is best to install PDL in a new directory and not in the same directory as
  28. the previous version.  This allows you to copy over your own PDL.IN file
  29. and prevents over writing the configuration information.

  31. PDL is supplied in the .ZIP format and must be "unzipped" using the PKUNZIP
  32. program.  The PDL313 directory should contain the following files:

  36.                    PDL.DOC          PDLCONF.HLP

  40. **PDLRUN.BXT is a template file used to create the PDLRUN.BAT file.  Do not
  41. alter this file or the configuration program may not operate correctly.

  44. Configuring PDL
  45. ---------------
  46.                         PDLCONF.EXE
  47.  
  48. Version 3.1.4 of PDL contains a configuration program to assist you in building
  49. the PDL.CNF and PDLRUN.BAT files.  These two files are necessary to properly
  50. start and run the PDL program.  The program will attempt to collect information
  51. from a variety of sources and then provide you with a convenient, menu driven
  52. method of specifying additional parameters or changing the automatic ones.  Once
  53. the information is correct, select the Update Parameter Files option to save the
  54. configuration and build the PDLRUN.BAT file. Be sure to accept each
  55. configuration screen with the F10 key or some information may be lost.

  57. The configuration program is started by typing PDLCONF at the DOS prompt.

  60. Running PDL
  61. -----------
  62. The PDL program is started by typing PDLRUN at the DOS prompt.

  65. PDL.IN
  66. ------
  67. The input file (PDL.IN) can be created by using any ASCII editor (such as EDLIN)
  68. to build the ticker list.  The list format is "TYPE TICKER" where TYPE is S, F,
  69. B, or X and TICKER is the symbol name (5 characters maximum).  Do not use a word
  70. processor to build the PDL.IN file unless you know for sure that it doesn't put
  71. special characters in the file.

  73. If you have not registered PDL it will not be able to retrieve the Market Close
  74. pages, Market Update summary or the QRQ30 list.
