  6. This is a fully functional version of the WinTapestry application that
  7. is included in the SuperHighway Access for Windows product that will be
  8. available from Frontier Technologies Corporation.  WinTapestry supports
  9. many different protocols including Gopher+, WWW, and CSO, and is fully
  10. Windows Sockets compliant.

  16. *** Standard Installation ***
  17.  
  18. WinTapestry is a Windows Sockets application that is currently self 
  19. contained in a single ZIP archive.  Simply extract the files into a
  20. directory and add the file TAPESTRY.EXE to your program group.
  21.  
  22. WinTapestry comes with a default Internet Organizer with many 
  23. preconfigured Internet resources available to you.  If you do not 
  24. find the resources you want in the Internet Organizer, you can easily
  25. add additional items to the Internet Organizer as you find them on the
  26. Internet by using drag and drop from the Gopher Tree View window, or by
  27. using the File|Connect menu item.  This menu item allows you to simply
  28. type in the hostname and the type of protocol to use, or you can enter
  29. a complete Uniform Resource Locator (URL).

  32. *** Changes from WINTAP-1.EXE ***
  33.  
  34.     1)  Tapestry will now work around the problem with some Winsock stacks
  35.     which erroneously assume that input parameters to WSAAsyncGetHostByName()
  36.     are permanent and therefore do not make their own local copies of those
  37.     parameters (e.g., Trumpet and NetManage, possibly others).  Users who saw
  38.     frequent hostname lookup failures before will see improved reliability.
  39.     This problem was characterized by a "No data" error when trying to start
  40.     a Gopher session.
  41.  
  42.     2)  The WWW session problems which produced "404 Document not found" or
  43.     "403 Forbidden" when you click on an existing hyperlink are fixed.
  44.  
  45.     3)  The WWW window supports Telnet and Tn3270 hyperlinks, as well as the
  46.     Add Bookmark and Save As menu items.

  48.     4)  A number of general cleanups were made, including some improvements
  49.     to the WWW display.

  52. *** Requirements ***
  53.  
  54. This program requires Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups 3.11.  
  55. WinTapestry contains an internal viewer for images in many of the
  56. most popular formats, including GIF and JPEG, but other file types
  57. will require external programs for viewing.  See the online
  58. documentation for details.
