  4. Icon Manager for Windows NT version 3.4.

  9. OVERVIEW
  10. --------
  11. Icon Manager is a powerful tool for working with
  12. icons in the Windows NT operating environment.  The
  13. same drag-and-drop interface used by Program Manager
  14. allows icons to easily be moved, copied, and organ-
  15. ized into files within Icon Manager.  Unlike other
  16. applications which offer awkward procedures for
  17. installing icons into Program Manager, Icon Manager
  18. will install icons into Program Manager or Norton
  19. Desktop DIRECTLY using the wizardry of Windows'
  20. Dynamic Data Exchange.  For those who would like
  21. to create or edit their own icons, Icon Manager
  22. taps the power of OLE to whisk you into a edit
  23. session with Paintbrush by just double-clicking on
  24. an icon.  All of these features and more make
  25. Icon Manager the most complete icon tool available
  26. for the Windows operating environment.

  28. This version of Icon Manager has been created
  29. specifically for the Windows NT operating system.

  32. REGISTRATION
  33. ------------
  34. Icon Manager is not free software.  It is released
  35. as shareware, which provides the opportunity for
  36. the program to be evaluated before it is purchased.

  38. We hope that after you try Icon Manager you will
  39. like it so much that you will want to register.
  40. By doing so you are voting with your pocketbook for
  41. us to continue developing high-quality, Windows
  42. shareware.

  48. DOCUMENTATION
  49. -------------
  50. Icon Manager includes on-line help that covers all
  51. aspects of program operation.  It can be accessed
  52. directly from Icon Manager's menu bar by selecting
  53. 'Help'.

  56. INSTALLING ICON MANAGER for the WINDOWS NT O/S
  57. -----------------------------------------------
  58. Icon Manager should be installed while running
  59. under the logon ID of the Icon Manager user.
  60. Configuration information is maintained for the
  61. user in their area of the system registry.
  62.  
  63. The Icon Manager package includes a graphical Windows
  64. installation program using the standard name of SETUP.EXE.
  65. You should place all of the files included in the package
  66. on a floppy disk or in a temporary directory of your hard
  67. drive.
  68.  
  69. SETUP requires about 240K bytes of hard disk space to
  70. complete the installation of Icon Manager.
  71.  
  72. Run SETUP by selecting the 'Run...' command from the
  73. File menu of Program Manager or File Manager. Enter
  74. "d:\SETUP" as the Command Line, where "d" is the
  75. drive/directory that you are installing Icon Manager FROM
  76. (i.e. A:\SETUP).
  77.  
  78. SETUP will display an Installation Control window that
  79. it pre-sets with the most common defaults for instal-
  80. lation.  Pushbuttons allow you to change any of the
  81. settings to meet your own preferences.

  84. NEW FEATURES IN THE 3.4 RELEASE OF ICON MANAGER
  85. -----------------------------------------------
  86.  
  87. The following additions and changes have been added in
  88. the 3.4 release of Icon Manager:
  89.  
  90.   - The program has been generally updated to
  91.     make it a more solid application when
  92.     it encounters unknown or bad data, and
  93.     to provide feedback to the user to indicate
  94.     the source of the problem.
  95.  
  96.   - The Status bar now displays the progress
  97.     while sorting (aligning) icons and the
  98.     progress of multiple icon moves or copies.
  99.  
  100.   - A Most Recent Used (MRU) file list has
  101.     been added to the File menu.  The last
  102.     four files that are opened or saved will
  103.     be available at the end of the File menu
  104.     for quick access.
  105.  
  106.   - Sometimes the icon Arrange commands would
  107.     cause an error in version 3.3.  This has
  108.     been corrected.
  109.  
  110.   - The overall presentation of the program
  111.     has been updated with the buttonface
  112.     texture and 3D dialog look.

  124.  SOFTWARE LICENSE
  125.  
  126.  Non-licensed users are granted a limited license to use Icon
  127.  Manager on a 30-day trial basis for the purpose of determining
  128.  whether Icon Manager is suitable for their needs.  The use
  129.  of Icon Manager, except for the initial 30-day trial,
  130.  requires registration.  The use of unlicensed copies of Icon
  131.  Manager, outside of the initial 30-day trial, by any person,
  132.  business, corporation, government agency or any other entity is
  133.  strictly prohibited.
  134.  
  135.  A single user license permits a user to use Icon Manager
  136.  only on a single computer.  Licensed users may use the
  137.  program on different computers, as long as there is NO
  138.  POSSIBILITY of it being used at one location while it is
  139.  being used at another, or on a computer network by more than
  140.  one user at a time.
  141.  
  142.  No one may modify or patch the Icon Manager executable files
  143.  in any way, including but not limited to decompiling,
  144.  disassembling, or otherwise reverse engineering the program.
  145.  
  146.  A limited license is granted to copy and distribute Icon Manager
  147.  only for the trial use of others, subject to the above
  148.  limitations, and also the following:
  149.  
  150.   1)    Icon Manager and all of its release files must be
  151.         distributed in unmodified form, complete with the file
  152.         containing this license information.
  153.  
  154.   2)    No fee, charge, or other compensation may be requested or
  155.         accepted, except as authorized below:
  156.  
  157.         A) Operators of electronic bulletin board systems (sysops)
  158.            may make Icon Manager available for downloading only as
  159.            long as the above conditions are met.  An overall or
  160.            time-dependent charge for the use of the bulletin board
  161.            system is permitted as long as there is not a specific
  162.            charge for the download of Icon Manager.
  163.  
  164.         B) Vendors of shareware software approved by the ASP
  165.            may distribute Icon Manager, subject to the above
  166.            conditions, without specific permission.  Non-
  167.            approved vendors may distribute Icon Manager only after
  168.            obtaining written permission from Impact Software.
  169.            Such permission is usually granted.  Please write for
  170.            details (enclose your catalog).

  172.         C) Non-profit user groups may distribute copies of the
  173.            Icon Manager diskette to their members, subject to
  174.            the above conditions, without specific permission.
  175.            Non-profit groups may collect a disk duplication fee
  176.            not to exceed five dollars.

  178.   LIMITED WARRANTY
  179.  
  180.   Impact Software warrants that all disks provided are
  181.   free from defects in material and workmanship, assuming
  182.   normal use, for a period of 90 days from the date of
  183.   purchase.

  185.   Impact Software warrants that the program will perform
  186.   in substantial compliance with the documentation supplied
  187.   with the software product.  If a significant defect in
  188.   the product is found, the Purchaser may return the
  189.   product for a refund.  In no event will such a refund
  190.   exceed the purchase price of the product.

  192.   EXCEPT AS PROVIDED ABOVE, IMPACT SOFTWARE DISCLAIMS ALL
  193.   WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT
  194.   LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND
  195.   FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, WITH RESPECT TO THE
  196.   PRODUCT.  SHOULD THE PROGRAM PROVE DEFECTIVE, THE
  197.   PURCHASER ASSUMES THE RISK OF PAYING THE ENTIRE COST OF
  198.   ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR, OR CORRECTION AND ANY
  199.   INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.  IN NO EVENT WILL
  200.   IMPACT SOFTWARE BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER
  201.   (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF
  202.   BUSINESS PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF BUSINESS
  203.   INFORMATION AND THE LIKE) ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR THE
  204.   INABILITY TO USE THIS PRODUCT EVEN IF IMPACT SOFTWARE
  205.   HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

  207.   Use of this product for any period of time constitutes
  208.   your acceptance of this agreement and subjects you to its
