  15. SYMPTOMS

  18. Windows NT fails to recognize a disk change in Fujitsu M2511A Magneto
  19. Optical disk drive. The directory displayed is the same as the previous
  20. disk.
  21.  
  22. CAUSE
  23. =====

  25. The disk drive is shipped with incorrect settings for proper operation with
  26. Windows NT. The default settings do not recognize the Unit Attention signal
  27. which is generated when an error or disk change occurs. The system ignores
  28. this event and does not recognize disk changes.

  30. RESOLUTION

  33. To allow the drive to operate correctly the drive switches must be
  34. configured as follows:
  35.  
  36. There are two switch blocks, SW1 and SW2. SW1 has four switches and SW2 has
  37. eight. SW2-3 and SW2-5 must be on and SW2-7 must be off in order for
  38. Windows NT to recognize disk changes. In addition, the disk must be
  39. partitioned with Disk Administrator as type FAT.

  47. SW1 determines the SCSI ID. It has the following configurations:

  70.           OFF - Fixed Disk - Non Removable*)
  71.    SW2-4: Spindle Auto Stop Mode (ON - Spindle stops when idle*,
  72.           OFF - Spindle always stays on)
  73.    SW2-5: Page Code 1 Byte Parameter (ON - 10 byte parameter page length
  74.           and 6 byte page length descriptor**, OFF - 6 byte parameter page
  75.           length and 10 byte page length descriptor*)
