  18. When you run ACLCONV on a large volume with many directories (15,000 or
  19. more) ACLCONV may fail and you may need to restart Windows NT. ACLCONV uses
  20. the paging file to store access control list (ACL) information. One of its
  21. processes does not release some of this memory for each ACL entry. With a
  22. very large number of directory and file entries, this problem can quickly
  23. fill up your paging file.

  32. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and
  33. Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. This problem was corrected in
  34. the latest U.S. Service Pack for Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced
  35. Server version 3.1. For information on obtaining the Service Pack,
  36. query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without
  37. the spaces):
