- The procedure to use the Windows NT Emergency Repair Disk on a
- RISC-based computer is different from the procedure on an x86-based
- computer. On an x86-based system, the repair utility is run by booting
- from a startup disk that was created during the installation of
- Windows NT. On a RISC-based computer, no startup disk is created, as
- the RISC-based computers do not automatically start from a floppy
- disk.
-
- Use the following procedure to use the Emergency Repair Disk on a
- RISC-based computer:
-
- 1. Insert the Windows NT CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
-
- 2. Start your computer.
-
- 3. From the list of choices on the firmware menu, select Run A
- Program.
-
- 4. When you are prompted for the program to run, type the following
- and press ENTER:
-
- CD:\MIPS\SETUPLDR
-
- 5. When the setup screen appears, type "R" (without the quotation
- marks) to run the repair utility.
-
- 6. Insert the repair disk into drive A as prompted and continue to
- follow the instructions on the screen.
