  15. Sound Impressions is a 16-bit Windows-based application that provides
  16. multimedia functionality (Wave, MIDI, CD Audio) through a graphical
  17. interface that emulates a home stereo rack system. The application is
  18. often bundled with sound cards and multimedia upgrade kits, such as
  19. the MediaVision Pro Studio 16 sound card. When you perform the Setup
  20. for this application under Windows NT, you may receive error messages
  21. or warnings because the application expects a Windows 3.1 environment.

  23. During the installation for Sound Impressions, a 'System Status
  24. Report' is generated by the Setup application. If you install Sound
  25. Impressions under Windows NT, then a report similar to the following
  26. may be produced:

  28.    System Status Report:

  30.    Setup has compiled a list of system
  31.    configuration items for your review.
  32.  
  33.    Items that may not be in accordance
  34.    with Sound Impressions requirements
  35.    or merit a cautionary note are preceded
  36.    by a series of stars (****).

  38.    Double-click on any item for more
  39.    information. To proceed with Setup,
  40.    click Continue or press ESC.

  42.    To quit Setup, choose close from the
  43.    Control Box (upper left corner) or
  44.    press ALT, SPACEBAR, C or ALT+F4.

  46.    ****MIDI driver not detected
  47.    ****Multimedia Timer not detected

  49.    ****Arial is not on your fonts list
  50.    ****32-bit Disk Access is off"

  52. Subsequent to receiving this status screen, the Setup application
  53. should continue without error. Sound Impressions components (Wave,
  54. MIDI, and CD Audio) should work without errors in Windows NT. However,
  55. a second CD-ROM drive may not be recognized by Sound Impressions.
  56. These warnings displayed by the Setup application are caused by the
  57. expectation that the environment is Windows 3.1.
