  15. SYMPTOMS

  18. A Windows NT computer that is in a workgroup with other Windows NT
  19. computers or Windows for Workgroups computers (and not in a LAN
  20. Manager domain) may not be able to browse servers in some LAN Manager
  21. domains even though they may be on the same network segment.
  22.  
  23. A LAN Manager domain that does not contain any Windows NT computers
  24. will not appear on the browse lists unless it is specified as an
  25. "Other Domain" (without quotation marks) through the Control Panel,
  26. Networks option in the Computer Browser service configuration.
  27. However, the computer browser service can only be configured in
  28. Windows NT Advanced Server.

  30. RESOLUTION

  33. Use one of the following methods to workaround this problem:
  34.  
  35. Make a new domain using a Windows NT Advanced Server as the primary
  36. domain controller and specify the LAN Manager domains as "Other
  37. Domain" through the Control Panel, Networks option in the Computer
  38. Browser configuration of Windows NT Advanced Server. Then add the
  39. Windows NT workstations to this domain.

  43. Even though the LAN Manager domains are not visible in the browse
  44. list, connections can be forced to computers in those domains by using
  45. their server name (\\<Server name>\<Share name>) in the Path line of
  46. the Connect Network Drive dialog box in File Manager.

  50. Add at least one Windows NT workstation to each LAN Manager domain.
