  15. If you download files with FTP from a UNIX or Internet server, the files
  16. may be in .tar.Z format, which is a storage method that saves disk space.
  17. These files will not be usable unless they are restored to their native
  18. format.

  20. TAR (tape archiver) and COMPRESS are standard utilities for concatenating
  21. files and compressing files for storage on UNIX systems. They also provide
  22. the facilities to restore files to their native format.
  23.  
  24. Windows NT does not include either the TAR or Compress utilities; however,
  25. they are available through several sources.

  27. The TAR and COMPRESS utilities are widely available on several different
  28. anonymous FTP sites on the Internet.
  29.  
  30. NOTE: You cannot use PKUNZIP to uncompress a file compressed by the UNIX
  31. COMPRESS utility.
