  15. The Intel Satisfaxtion 400 Internal Modem does not work with Windows
  16. NT. The Satisfaxtion 400 is software-configurable only and requires
  17. MS-DOS-based drivers to initialize correctly.

  19. Because the modem has no hardware-configurable switches, it requires
  20. that a configuration file and a device driver be loaded when the
  21. system is booted. Under an MS-DOS system, these are loaded in the
  22. CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files.

  24. In the CONFIG.SYS file, there is usually an entry similar to the
  25. following:

  27.    device=c:\fax\satisfax.sys /ioaddr=xxx
  28.  
  29. In the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, there is usually the following entry:

  31.    casmgr
  32.  
  33. Because the device driver attempts to communicate with the hardware
  34. directly, it does not work under Windows NT.
  35.  
  36. NOTE: The Intel Satisfaxtion 400e external modem does not have this
  37. problem. There are hardware switches on the modem that allow it to be
  38. configured, so the modem should work correctly with Windows NT.
