  15. SYMPTOMS
  16. ========

  18. When you are using the Windows NT Backup program, and you attempt to
  19. restore files from a backup, you may receive the following error
  20. message:
  21.  
  22.    You Do Not Have Permission to Access Portions of
  23.    \<Directoryname>\<Filename>
  24.    Please See The Owner or Administrator to Get Permissions
  25.  
  26. CAUSE
  27. =====
  28.  
  29. This error message may be caused by one of the following scenarios:
  30.  
  31.  - The person who originally backed up the information specified to
  32.    restrict access to the files to the owner and Administrator.
  33.  
  34.    If this is the case, only the owner and Administrator will be able
  35.    to restore the information.
  36.  
  37.    -or-
  38.  
  39.  - You are restoring to an NTFS drive and do not have the necessary
  40.    rights to the directory to which you are restoring files.
  41.  
  42.    With the backup program provided with Windows NT, you have the
  43.    option to select an alternative path for the files to be placed
  44.    during the restore process. Use File Manager to check the Security
  45.    Permissions setting to see if you have permissions to write to that
  46.    directory.

  48.    -or-
  49.  
  50.  - You are restoring the files into a directory in use by Windows NT.
  51.  
  52.    For example, restoring files to the \TEMP directory that is in use
  53.    by Windows NT will result in the above error.
