- SYMPTOMS
- ========
-
- After choosing to boot into MS-DOS, either from Boot Loader or by
- using a bootable MS-DOS floppy disk, you can both view and modify an
- NTFS partition using normal MS-DOS commands. Afterwards, the NTFS
- partition is corrupted.
-
- CAUSE
- =====
-
- Your computer had OS/2 installed with IBM Boot Manager on the first
- partition. When you installed Windows NT, you directed Setup to
- reformat an existing NTFS partition or convert a partition to NTFS.
- Due to the configuration, the partition type was not set. The
- partition remained marked as FAT.
-
- WORKAROUND
- ==========
-
- From OS/2, run the FDISKPM command to remove the NTFS partition. Then
- reinstall Windows NT directing Setup to convert the partition to NTFS.
