  19. Under Windows NT, the Word for Windows Print To File option may be
  20. ignored; after you select Print To File, the print job still goes to
  21. the printer.

  23. NOTE: You may experience this problem under any application when
  24. printing to a file.

  26. Steps to Reproduce Problem
  27. --------------------------

  29. 1. Use Print Manager to create a default printer.
  30.  
  31. 2. Start Word for Windows.
  32.  
  33. 3. Choose Print Setup from the File menu and make sure the default
  34.    printer you just created is selected. Choose OK.
  35.  
  36. 4. Type "This is a Test."
  37.  
  38. 5. Choose Print from the File menu.
  39.  
  40. 6. In the Print dialog box, select the Print to File option.
  41.  
  42. 7. Choose OK.
  43.  
  44. The print job goes to the default printer, even though you instructed
  45. Word to print to a file. Under Windows 3.1, a dialog box would have
  46. appeared prompting you for the file name and location.

  51. To workaround this problem, use Print Manager to reconfigure the
  52. printer to redirect output to a file.
