- SYMPTOMS
- ========
-
- When you install a Keyboard Layout Dynamic Link Library (DLL) using
- the Control Panel, International, Keyboard Layout option, and you
- specify the wrong location (based on hardware platform, such as x86
- versus MIPS) for the driver to install from, an application error may
- occur instead of a warning message indicating an incorrect driver. If
- the wrong driver is already on the system, the application error
- occurs as soon as you choose the new Keyboard type.
-
- RESOLUTION
- ==========
-
- To install the correct driver, you must first remove the MIPS layout
- DLL from the %SYSTEMROOT%\system32 subdirectory. To determine which
- file to remove, refer to the [Files-Layout] and [OptionsTextEng]
- section of the LAYOUT.INF file in the %SYSTEMROOT%\system32
- subdirectory.

-
- Steps to Reproduce Problem
- --------------------------
-
- 1. From Control Panel, select the International option.
-
- 2. Change the Keyboard Layout to Swiss French.
-
- 3. When you are prompted for the location of the new driver, type the
- directory name for the MIPS tree on the Windows NT CD-ROM.
-
- 4. The files will copy and then you will receive the following error
- message:
-
- SETUP.EXE
- Exception: (<memaddress>), Address: <memaddress>
-
- where <memaddress> is an 8 digit hex number.
-
- If the MIPS layout DLL has already been installed, you will receive
- the following error message instead:
-
- CONTROL.exe
- Exception: (<memaddress>), Address: <memaddress>
-
- where <memaddress> is an 8 digit hex number.
