- SYMPTOMS
- ========
-
- The Windows NT Remote Access Service (RAS) displays confusing
- information when interpreting information for Transmit (TX), Receive
- (RX), or other RAS statistics.
-
- CAUSE
- =====
-
- Windows NT supports the International application programming
- interface (API) so that applications can determine which language
- Windows NT is configured for. Using this information, applications can
- format output correctly according to the currently installed language.
-
- However, the RAS port monitoring utility (RASMON) does not use the
- Windows NT International API to determine the format for information
- it displays. Therefore, RASMON cannot determine the correct language
- installed and format its output accordingly. For example, RASMON will
- always use a comma as a thousands separator even though the French
- thousands separator is a space.
-
- STATUS
- ======
-
- Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.1
- and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. We are researching this
- problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge
- Base as it becomes available.
