- SYMPTOMS
- ========
-
- Certain commands, run from Windows NT Command Prompt, reset your
- custom settings. For example, if you start COMMAND.COM (the MS-DOS
- command interpreter) or another MS-DOS-based application, custom
- settings, like rows, columns, and colors, are reset.
-
- Steps to Reproduce Problem
- --------------------------
-
- 1. Start Command Prompt (CMD.EXE) from the Main Program Manager group.
-
- 2. From the Control menu of Command Prompt, Choose Screen Size And
- Position.
-
- 3. Change the Height field to 99.
-
- 4. Select the Save Screen Buffer Size box.
-
- 5. Choose OK to save the settings. (Note the scroll bars.)
-
- 6. Exit and restart Command Prompt to verify settings were saved.
-
- 7. Run the MS-DOS MEM command.
-
- 8. The scroll bars used for the extra lines disappear.
-
- 9. Choose Screen Size And Position from the Control menu again.
-
- Note that the value for Height has changed.
-
- CAUSE
- =====
-
- When Command Prompt starts an MS-DOS-based application, it adopts the
- default MS-DOS screen settings.
-
- RESOLUTION
- ==========
-
- To restore your custom settings, restart Command Prompt or exit the
- MS-DOS-based application.
-
- NOTE: If you start the 16-bit application (Command or other) with the
- Start command, your custom settings are preserved.
