- PRODUCT :Windows NT
- PROD/VER:3.10
- OPER/SYS:WINDOWS
- KEYWORDS:
-
- ------------------------------------------------------------
- The information in this article applies to:
-
- - Microsoft Windows NT operating system version 3.1
- - Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1

-
- SYMPTOMS
- ========
-
- You may receive one of the following error messages when you try to
- start an application:
-
- Not enough storage to start process.
-
- -or-
-
- Error #0008
-
- CAUSE
- =====
-
- These errors indicate you have run out of paging file space. The less
- RAM a system has, the more likely this is to happen.
-
- RESOLUTION
- ==========
-
- To correct this problem, do one of the following:
-
- - Make more RAM available for the system, which allows for more paging
- file space (non-paged memory).
-
- -or-
-
- - Use Performance Monitor to discover which application(s) are using
- non-paged memory in larger amounts and run them more judiciously.
-
- MORE INFORMATION
- ================
-
- Non-paged memory is memory that cannot be swapped out to disk.
- Applications can tell Windows NT how much of themselves can be placed
- in the non-paged pool. There is a limit to the amount of objects a
- system can have in non-paged memory at any time.
