- The information in this article applies to:

- - Microsoft Windows NT operating system version 3.1
- - Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1

- If you experience a hard disk or data corruption problem and lose your
- Windows NT system volume, you can restore Windows NT and preserve your
- data if you made backup copies of the Windows NT system volume. To
- restore Windows NT, use the following procedure:

- 1. From Windows NT Backup, restore the following directory and all the
- Registry files:
-
- <%SystemRoot%>\system32\config
-
- 2. Reboot your machine.
-
- 3. Restore the entire backup set except for the Registry files.
-
- 4. Reboot your machine again.
-
- The volume should be back to its original state.
