  17. If you upgrade to Windows NT from Windows 3.1 or Windows for
  18. Workgroups with Windows Sound System installed, you may receive the
  19. following error message:
  20.  
  21.    The application or DLL DosDevices\C:\windows\system\SND.CPL is not
  22.    a valid Windows NT image. Please check this against your
  23.    installation diskette.
  24.  
  25. CAUSE
  26. =====
  27.  
  28. If you choose to upgrade to Windows NT, the Windows Sound System
  29. Control Panel application is preserved and migrated to the Windows NT
  30. installation. The SND.CPL Control Panel file installed by Windows
  31. Sound System is not compatible with Windows NT.

  36. Remove all of the Windows Sound System values from the following
  37. subkey:

  39.    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\MMCPL
