  14. Microsoft provides the files in the Microsoft Windows NT Driver
  15. Library (WNTDL). Files in the WNTDL support many printers, displays,
  16. sound cards, and network card adapters that the Windows NT 3.1 release
  17. does not support directly. If you have a modem, the drivers are
  18. available at no charge on CompuServe, GEnie, Microsoft OnLine, and the
  19. Microsoft Download Service (MSDL). Note that standard connect-time
  20. fees and long-distance telephone charges, if any, apply when you
  21. download files. When you connect to any of these services, please read
  22. the WNTDL.TXT file for downloading instructions and a complete list of
  23. the devices that the WNTDL supports.

  25. The phone number for the MSDL is (206) 936-MSDL (6735). There is no
  26. connect-time charge to use the MSDL.
  27.  
  28. On CompuServe, the WNTDL is in the Microsoft Software Library, which
  29. you can access by typing "go msl" (without quotation marks) at any
  30. CompuServe system prompt.

  32. On the GEnie and Microsoft OnLine systems, the WNTDL is in the
  33. Microsoft Software Library.

  35. If you do not have access to a modem, you can obtain an individual
  36. driver from the WDL on a disk by calling Microsoft Product Support
  37. Services at (206) 635-7018.

  45. MORE INFORMATION

  48. The Microsoft Windows NT Driver Library (WNTDL) contains device
  49. drivers for printers, displays, audio devices, storage devices, and
  50. network card adapters. These drivers enable these devices to run with
  51. the Microsoft Windows NT operating system.
  52.  
  53. As new and updated drivers become available, they will be added to the
  54. WNTDL.
  55.  
  56. This WNTDL.TXT file includes a list of all the devices supported by
  57. the drivers in the WNTDL and instructions for downloading the drivers.
  58. This file is updated on a regular basis.
  59.  
  60. Note: All the drivers included in this library are intended for use
  61. with Windows NT.

  63. Instructions for Downloading
  64. ----------------------------

  66. 1. Locate your device in the listing included at the end of this
  67.    WNTDL.TXT file. Note the name of the file listed next to the
  68.    device. You need to download this file from your download
  69.    service.

  71. 2. If you are downloading to a floppy disk, you need to have a
  72.    formatted, blank disk. If you are downloading to your hard
  73.    disk, create a new subdirectory in which you will place the
  74.    files.

  76.    CAUTION: Do not download files directly into your main Windows
  77.    NT directory. Doing so could overwrite files essential to the
  78.    proper operation of your system.
  79.  
  80. 3. Follow the downloading procedure used by your downloading
  81.    service. The file you download is the executable or program
  82.    (.EXE) file that you identified in step 1. This file contains
  83.    all the files you need to support your device.
  84.  
  85.    Download the .EXE file to your floppy disk or to the new
  86.    subdirectory you created on your hard disk.
  87.  
  88. 4. Change to the floppy disk drive (or the subdirectory on your
  89.    hard disk) that contains the .EXE file. At the MS-DOS prompt,
  90.    type the filename, and then press ENTER.
  91.  
  92.    When the .EXE file finishes running, all the files you need to
  93.    support your device, such as a .DRV file and an OEMSETUP.INF
  94.    file, are set up. You are also provided with a .TXT file that
  95.    contains instructions for installing the device drivers (or
  96.    other software) and a licensing agreement.

  98.    If you have problems extracting files, try downloading the
  99.    files again.
