OCR: ist price for their musical philosophy. After years of releasing well- hi ved-and relatively obscure-albums on SST Records, the band re ed to go after the biggest fish around: U2. The resulting single, de Negativland," was spectacularly ill-timed. ised only weeks before U2's Achtung Baby, the album art seemed ned to confuse record buyers with its oversized U2 iconography. de ess to say, Negativland quickly found themselves the subject of N al lawsuits-not only by Island Records (for copyright infringement), SE so by SST owner Greg Ginn (for recoupment of court costs) and very nearly by Casey Casem. Since that time, the band has spent much of their time chronicling this debacle, most comprehensively in their massive compilation of articles, letters and court documents (Fair Use-The Story of the Letter U and the Numeral 2).
