  31. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  32. **************************************************************************
  33. To install the HPPCL5A Printer Driver:
  34. Part 1:
  35. 1.  Delete your font summary file.  The font information for this
  36. version of the driver has changed, therefore, it is necessary to
  37. delete the font summary file.  Note:  the font summary file is
  38. usually located in the Windows directory and the nomenclature is
  39. FS5LPT1.PCL (where LPT1 represents the port name).  You will have a
  40. different font summary file for every port installed and need to
  41. delete all occurrences of the font summary file.  If the font summary
  42. file does not appear in the Windows directory it can be located by
  43. looking in the win.ini file under the heading FontSummary=.
  44. Part 2:
  45. 1.  Start Windows 3.0. 
  46. 2.  Choose Control Panel from the Main Group in Program Manager. The
  47. Control Panel window appears. 
  48. 3.  Choose the Printers icon from the Control Panel window. The
  49. Printers dialog box appears. 
  50. 4.  Choose the Add Printer >> button. 
  51. 5.  From the List of Printers: dialog box, select the Unlisted
  52. Printer. Unlisted Printer is the last entry in the List of Printers
  53. dialog box. 
  54. 6.  Choose Install. 
  55. 7.  Insert the HPPCL5A Printer Driver Disk Version 30.3.86. 
  56. 8.  Double click on the installation drive in the "Directories:" list.
  57. 9.  Double click on HPPCL5A.DRV in the Driver Files list. 
  58. 10.  Choose "New" when asked whether you want to use the current
  59. driver or install a new driver. 
  60. 11.  The entry "HP LaserJet III on None, Inactive" will appear in the
  61. Installed Printers dialog box. 
  62. 12.  Choose Configure. 
  63. 13.  Highlight the correct printer port from the Ports dialog box. 
  64. 14.  Choose Setup. 
  65. 15.  Make any necessary changes in the Printer Setup window to reflect
  66. your printer's configuration. 
  67. 16.  Choose OK twice. 
  68. 17.  Choose Active. 
  69. 18.  Choose OK.
  70. The HPPCL5A printer driver is now installed.
  71. NOTE:  Any HP LaserJet III printer you have previously installed will
  72. use the new PCL 5 Printer Driver and Hewlett-Packard Font Installer. 
  73. Remove through the Control Panel any HP LaserJet III printer entries
  74. that are not needed.
  75. To remove a printer from the Installed Printers List:
  76. 1.  Choose Control Panel from the Main Group in Program Manager. 
  77. 2.  Choose the Printers icon from the Control Panel window. The
  78. Printers dialog box appears. 
  79. 3.  Highlight the printer you want to remove. 
  80. 4.  Choose Configure. 
  81. 5.  Choose Remove. 
  82. 6.  Choose Yes when asked if you want to remove the printer. 
  83. 7.  Choose OK twice to return to the Control Panel.
  84. Until you exit Windows 3.0 and then restart Windows 3.0, the Printer
  85. Setup function from the Control Panel is accessed from the
  86. installation disk.  Make sure the installation disk for HPPCL5A
  87. Printer Driver Version 30.3.86 is inserted in the floppy drive
  88. whenever you request Printer Setup from the Control Panel after
  89. installing the new Printer Driver and before exiting Windows 3.0.

  91. HPPCL5A PRINTER DRIVER SUPPORT CHANGES
  92. **************************************************************************
  93. The WordPerfect Bitmap Cartridge support has been removed from the
  94. 30.3.86 driver.  The WordPerfect Cartridge can be added to the font
  95. installer by using either the AutoFont support disk packaged with the
  96. cartridge or by obtaining AutoFont support from the Personal
  97. Peripherals Assistance Line.
