Wealth Management System
This is a not a free program, if you are not registered and wish to use
it, please register and receive latest revision by sending $24.95 to:
Wm. W. Odlum, Suite 105, 35 Ormskirk Avenue,Toronto,
Ontario. M6S 1A8.
The following Files must be in the same directory:
WinWealt.Exe - Main Program.
Getrich.WWO - How To Get Rich and Stay Rich Document.
Instruct.WWO - Instructions on how to use the programs.
Sample.WMS - Sample DataFile for Stocks.
Sample.WMN - Sample DataFile for Net Worth.
Instructions on how to use the programs.
First: Make a backup copy of this program and keep it in a safe place.
The name Fund/s is used throughout the program and holds the Company
name of the investment whether it is in Stocks, Bonds, Mutual
Funds or any other form of investment.
Mouse: Click on the menu buttons to activate the various menus, text
and dropdown boxes.
KeyBoard: Use ALT+ the underlined letter on the button you wish to
activate.
Use the TAB key to move through the menus and the input boxes.
Use ALT+DownArrow to open and close the dropdown boxes.
These are the input boxes with a DownArrow beside them.
To Scroll through the Text and Help boxes, use the PgDn and
PgUp or UpArrow and DownArrow keys.
Command Buttons:
[OK] means yes, complete the procedure, such as add record to
the file.
[Cancel] means no, do not complete the procedure.
[Exit] will quit that procedure or menu and go back to the
previous menu.
[To Printer] will send the data or text in that program to the
Printer.
Fonts: Courier font is used in the calculation tables, as it is a non-
proportional font and allows figures in columns to lineup
properly. You must have it installed in Windows. I use
Coure.Fon as I have a Vga Monitor.
Printing: It takes quite a while for the printer to set up for a
printout of the 'How to Get Rich and Stay Rich' and Instruction
files. Once printing starts you can continue to use the
programs as printing continues from a file in memory.
Sample.WMS: This is a sample DataFile which shows how various entries
are made in the Investment Management program .
Sample.WMN: This is a sample DataFile which shows how various entries
are made in the Net Worth Program.
Help: When using Help for guidance on how to input information. The
examples, which show the different ways of entering data for
various results, will be lined up with the input boxes beside
them.
Numerical Data Entry: Where number only input is required the program
will not accept letters or other characters from the keyboard,
with the exception of the backspace key to erase errors on that
line and the Tab key which completes the entry.
When entering figures, do not include dollar($) or comma(,)
signs, the only signs that can be used are the decimal point(.)
and the minus(-) sign.
Loading Files: Select the Drive and Directory. Files with the
extension .WMS or .WMN will be shown in the Filebox, either
double click on the filename or enter the filename with
extension in the Textbox and click OK.
Saving Files: Select the Drive and Directory. Files with the extension
.WMS or .WMN will be shown in the Filebox, double click on the
filename under which you wish to save the file. If you want to
save under a different filename make sure you clear the Textbox
first and then enter the new filename with the appropriate
extension in the Textbox and click OK.
If you forgot the name of the file in memory, check in the
Information box and it will be shown there.
Remember that saving a file using a Filename already on your
disk will overwrite the one on disk with the new data.
Always make a backup copy of important files to another
Drive/Dir so that if the original is lost by inadvertently
overwriting it, you have your backup to retrieve the files.
Graphs: Current Values are shown on the Bar Chart showing the
percentage of increase over cost.
Using the programs:
All Menu buttons have names that clearly describe the function
that they perform.
With the aid of the examples in Help that describe how to make
entries in the input boxes you should have no problem in
getting your data files set up.
While the Income and Retirement Calculation have pre-programmed
figures in the dropdown boxes, you should use your own to work
out what your savings should be to give you the income you need
on retirement in a given period.
When using Retirement Calculations, use a withdrawal of income
percentage less than the interest/growth percentage to allow
for inflation.
Example: Inflation has been running at an average of 5% over
the past 20 years so if one is getting a return of 20% on
Capital and taking out 15% then one is keeping up with
inflation as the Capital and Income are both increasing by 5%
each year.
Canadian Mortgage monthly principal and interest payments
differ from the American Mortgage as Canadian uses semi-annual
compounding while American uses monthly compounding periods.
Book Value: Represents the total cost to you. For instance if you
bought 100 shares of a stock for $10.00 each and paid $50.00
commission, your book value would be $1050.00. If you then
received a cash dividend of $100.00, the book value would be
$950.00.
To Setup DataFile for Stocks:
From the Fund Management Menu choose:
Add and Edit Records.
Create Fund. Enter New Fund Name. OK.
Blank Record. Enter your data.
Save Record. Your new fund and record will be saved.
Note that the Blank Record button changes to Save Record after
creating a blank record.
To add a record to an existing Fund. Select the Name of Fund
in the text box, press Blank Record, a blank record will be
shown, enter data and press Save Record
Add and Edit Records Controls:
To scroll through the records. Select the Fund name and then
press Next Record or Previous Record to see all records in that
Fund.
Correct and Delete buttons operate on the current record shown.
Make corrections to the record and press Correct button and the
changes will be saved.
Pressing the Delete button will erase the current record from
the file.
Warning: Changes to Funds or Records exist only in memory at
this point and will be lost when you exit the program. You must
save the File to disk to have a permanent file which can be
loaded when required.
The extension .WMS must be used with Investment DataFiles.
To Setup Datafile for Net Worth Statement:
Choose Edit Assets
Enter the names of your categories in sequence. Do not leave
blank spaces between categories.
If you want sub totals for each group, enter the exact words
Sub Total, with no value, as a category at the end the group
and the sub totals will be automatically calculated and shown
on the Net Worth Statement.
Enter the values beside the category names.
Press OK to save changes. Cancel will not save changes.
Repeat the above using Edit Liabilities.
Category names can be changed and values updated at any time.
To have Header names for groups just enter the name in the
name category with no value.
As the layout of Net Worth is flexible it is best to plan your
layout to suit your needs before making entries. After each
entry press OK to see how it appears in the Net Worth
Statement.
Net Worth Controls:
Edit Assets: Add change Category names or Values.
Edit Liabilities: Add or change Category names or Values.
Save File: Will save the current file in memory.
Load File: Will load the specified file into memory.
